Swimming is a sport played in an unstable state in the water without fixed support.Its special feature is that athletes need to control their bodies in the water to maintain balance,and the characteristics of the sport determine that swimmers need to have good core stability and balance.The key to functional training is to strengthen the athlete’s neuromuscular control function,enhance the stability of the core,improve the control of body posture,conduct multi-joint,multi-dimensional and multi-axis movement training,focus on the transmission of the body’s kinetic chain,and enhance the body’s ability to integrate the strength of the upper and lower limbs to improve the effectiveness of movements.In this study,functional training is applied to the training of 8-10 year old amateur swimmers to explore the effects of functional training on the freestyle training effect and core stability and balance ability of 8-10 year old amateur swimmers,and to provide some reference for the training of amateur children swimmers.Research method: This study used literature,expert interview,experimental method and mathematical and statistical method to select 32 amateur sports school swimmers in Baoding as experimental subjects,naturally divided into experimental group(n=16)and control group(n=16).Functional movement screening was conducted on the subjects before the experiment,and an 8-week functional training program was developed by combining the screening results and the characteristics of swimming sports.Results:(1)The post-experimental functional movement screening test scores of the experimental group improved significantly compared to the pre-experimental comparison.There were significant differences in deep squat,hurdle step,active straight leg raise and rotational stability compared to the control group(p<0.05);there were highly significant differences in linear lunge and total score(p<0.01).(2)The post-experimental core stability test of the experimental group improved significantly compared to the pre-experimental comparison,and there were significant differences in the upper limb Y-balance test left support lower side and right support middle side compared to the control group(p<0.05).(3)The dynamic and static balance ability on land and balance ability in water of the experimental group improved significantly after the experiment compared to the pre-experimental comparison,and there were significant differences(p < 0.05)in the Y balance test of the lower limbs on the left and right support posterior medial side,right support posterior lateral side,as well as the closed-eye uniped stance and prone floating test compared to the control group.(4)The experimental group’s post-experimental freestyle specific test scores improved significantly compared to the pre-experimental comparison,and there were significant differences(p < 0.05)in the 25 m freestyle,25 m take the board freestyle leg,25 m freehand freestyle leg,arm movement and leg movement technical assessments compared to the control group.Conclusions:(1)Functional training had a positive effect on the functional movement screening test of 8-10 year old amateur school swimmers,with some improvement in trunk stability and flexibility and stability of the hip,knee and ankle joints in the lower limbs,and some improvement in irregular movement patterns and asymmetry on both sides of the body.(2)Functional training can improve core stability,dynamic balance on land,static balance on land and balance in water to a certain extent compared to traditional physical training for amateur school swimmers aged 8-10.(3)Both functional training and traditional physical training can improve the freestyle performance of 8-10 year old amateur school swimmers,and from the experimental results,functional training has a better effect.
