Since its first introduction in 2014,"core competency" has undergone the process from theoretical construction to practical application.Based on the achievements of international education reforms and the urgent need to enhance China’s international competitiveness in talent,"core competency" runs through the new round of curriculum reform and is an important reference for testing the effectiveness of moral education.In the education reform guided by "core competency",teaching is the main way to develop students’ core competencies,and high-level teaching ability guarantees the development of students’ core competencies.Improving teaching ability is an important specialized skill for teachers.As the main source and supplement of the teacher team,the teaching ability level of normal students affects the quality of the teacher team.Therefore,summarizing and refining new requirements for teaching based on core competencies,combining with specific practical situations to construct the teaching ability index system,investigating the current situation of normal students’ teaching ability development under the background of core competencies,clarifying possible influencing factors,and combining problems with inducing factors to form targeted suggestions are all of reference significance for improving the quality of talent training in normal colleges and universities and promoting the development of core competencies of students in basic education stages.This study analyzes the teaching ability of normal students under the background of core competencies based on the theory of teacher professional development.The article is divided into five parts: the first part introduces the research problem,describes the research status through quantitative analysis of publication volume,publication institution,keywords,and content analysis of literature.At the same time,it clarifies the purpose and significance of the research and clarifies the core concepts and relevant theoretical foundations.The second part focuses on the construction of the teaching ability system under the background of core competencies.Based on the content of "China’s Students’ Core Competencies Development," new requirements for teaching are extracted,combined with specific teaching links,and teaching ability is divided into three secondary abilities,namely,teaching design ability,teaching implementation ability,and teaching evaluation ability.The secondary abilities are further subdivided into 11 tertiary abilities,thus constructing the teaching ability system under the background of core competencies.The third part conducts a survey of the current situation of teaching ability under the background of core competencies for normal students,which involves explaining the overall design of the survey,verifying the reliability and validity of the questionnaire subject,and conducting an overall analysis of teaching ability and its various sub-abilities.The fourth part analyzes the influencing factors from the perspectives of the environment,practice,and individual,involving eight specific content factors: institutional plans,cultural atmosphere,resource conditions,social practice,professional internships,teaching concepts,career intentions,and self-development requirements.The fifth part proposes corresponding cultivation strategies based on the current survey and influencing factors,aiming to provide effective and implementable suggestions and countermeasures.This study mainly investigates the teaching ability of 510 normal students in Y University in Class 2019 through a questionnaire and finally collects 461 valid questionnaires.At the same time,combined with the questionnaire results and research needs,classified interviews were conducted,involving two normal students,one teaching manager,two core course teachers of normal majors in colleges and universities,and two frontline teachers in internship schools.Through specific data analysis,the following four conclusions were drawn regarding the teaching ability of Y University normal students under the background of core competencies:1)The average score of teaching ability is 3.58 points(5-point system),which is generally at a qualified level.2)Each secondary ability is at a qualified level.In the process of ability development,"analyzing the learning process" has the greatest impact on teaching design ability,"conducting cooperative learning" has the greatest impact on teaching implementation ability,and "strengthening process evaluation" has the greatest impact on teaching evaluation ability.3)There are both qualified and excellent levels in tertiary abilities,indicating that the development of abilities is at different stages and shows a trend of two-level differentiation.4)The combination of teaching ability and core competencies is not close enough,and the current level still focuses primarily on imparting knowledge,weakening the behavior of developing students’ core competencies through teaching.Based on the current situation of teaching ability development of normal students in Y University under the background of core competencies,combined with the content of the questionnaire and interview,and integrating relevant research content,this study proposes three aspects and eight strategies and suggestions from the perspective of influencing factors:1)In optimizing the training environment,the strategies are to adjust the training plan to help professional growth,create a suitable atmosphere to motivate comprehensive growth,and provide material basis by enriching resource conditions.2)In implementing internships and practices,the strategies are to pay attention to social practice,strengthen social connections,ensure professional internships,and deepen the integration of theory and practice.3)In strengthening personal quality,the strategies are to reshape teaching concepts to guide rational thinking,improve career intentions to maintain education passion,and maintain self-development to establish a good cycle.
