With the advancement of the new curriculum reform,the core literacy of geography,with integrated thinking,regional cognition,human-territorial coordination view and geographic practical power as the main contents,concentrates the teaching objectives and nurturing values of geography subjects in the new era and clarifies the development direction of geography teaching.To this end,the new standard proposes that while highlighting the essence of the subject,geography teaching should also be related to the practical life to learn geography that is useful for students’ lifelong development.As a branch of geography,local geography not only reflects the basic ideas and methods of geography but also is close to students’ life,and plays an important role in cultivating students’ geographical thinking,enhancing regional cognition and establishing emotional connections.As a high-quality geography curriculum resource,local geography has strong practical significance in helping students cultivate core geography literacy.As the ancient capital of eight dynasties,Kaifeng has inherited history and reflected the changes of the times,leaving a rich cultural heritage.The rich and distinctive natural and human resources make Kaifeng’s vernacular geography a good foundation for application.In order to better integrate vernacular geography resources into high school geography teaching,the research results on vernacular geography at home and abroad are sorted out by reading relevant literature to understand the latest research results and directions about the application of vernacular geography resources under the new curriculum reform.Based on the previous research,we clarify the relevant concepts and theoretical foundations,combine the teaching contents of the new textbook and the cultivation of geography core literacy,firstly,we sort out the local geographic resources in Kaifeng city,form a preliminary cognition and superficial thinking about the teaching application value of local local geographic resources,and lay the foundation for its specific application research.Combining my observation and practical experience in the internship school,I used questionnaires and teacher interviews to study the actual application of local geographic resources in high school geography teaching and their core literacy cultivation.Through the survey,we found that first of all,students are generally willing to accept the knowledge related to local geography in the classroom,and teachers often involve local geography in their teaching.However,the use of vernacular geography resources is not deep enough,and the form and presentation are relatively single,which does not leave a deep impression on students;secondly,in the investigation of core literacy cultivation,the overall core literacy ability of students is low,the teachers’ awareness of core literacy cultivation in the process of using vernacular geography resources is not strong,and the overall application lacks relevance,so that vernacular geography resources do not play a good role in the cultivation of students’ core literacy in geography.The overall application is not targeted,so that the native geography resources do not play a good role in the cultivation of students’ geography core literacy.In addition,teachers lack scientific selection and design of the local geography resources used in teaching under the condition of tight class time and limited energy.The application of local geography resources is widely recognized,frequently used,superficial and not effective;the implementation of core literacy is separated from knowledge and action,inadequate,problematic and exploratory.In response to the problems in the above survey,this paper,under the guidance of constructivist learning theory,Tao Xingchi’s life education theory and contextual learning theory,combined with the suggestions of teachers’ interviews,puts forward four suggestions for the application of native geographic resources:(1)deepen the awareness of the goal of native resources application around the teaching content and integrate core literacy;(2)enhance the attractiveness and infectious power of native materials and cultivate students’ sentiment for home and country and(2)enhance the attractiveness and infectiousness of the local materials,cultivate students’ sentiment for their country and the overall view of the coordination of people and land;(3)strengthen the problem design and cultivate students’ geographical thinking by integrating the multiplicity and wholeness of local resources;(4)create multi-dimensional local teaching situations to enhance students’ participation and implement the cultivation of geographical practice in a creative way.The new textbook Human Education Version,Compulsory 2,is used as an example to design a teaching case for reference,taking into consideration the standards,textbook,students,material preparation,teaching methods and other aspects.The purpose of this paper is to focus on students’ core literacy development from the perspective of cultivating core literacy with local geography resources,and to explore more possibilities of applying local geography in high school geography teaching under the new curriculum reform.However,with the continuous development of geography teaching,the application of vernacular geography resources and the cultivation of core literacy in geography may still have new problems in the future,so the relevant research in this paper needs to be improved and developed in the future.
