In 2020,the Opinions of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on Comprehensively Strengthening Labor Education in Primary and Secondary Schools in the New Era and the Guidelines for Labor Education in Primary and Secondary Schools(Trial)were promulgated one after another,pointing out that it is necessary to comprehensively construct a labor education system that reflects the characteristics of the new era.Carrying out well labor education is the requirement of the party and the state for all kinds of schools at all levels,and it is no exception for mentally retarded students.The Labor Skills Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education in Schools for the Mentally Retarded is a guiding and programmatic document for curriculum implementation,which clearly stipulates the objectives,content,implementation and guarantee of labor skills curriculum.As the main position of labor education for mentally retarded students,the labor skills curriculum is directly related to the cultivation of labor skills,labor habits and labor emotions of mentally retarded students,and is of great significance to the education and rehabilitation of mentally retarded students.Therefore,the implementation of the labor skills curriculum for mentally retarded students is particularly important,and it is also an inevitable requirement for implementing the labor education policy in the new era.At present,the number of researches on the labor skills curriculum for mentally retarded students is gradually increasing,but most of them are based on the active exploration of economically developed areas.The research results are mostly the summary and promotion of experience,and the research on the current situation of curriculum implementation is relatively few.On the basis of systematically combing and summarizing relevant research,this study aims to further understand the implementation status of the labor skills curriculum for mentally retarded students in some areas of Sichuan Province,as well as the implementation of The Labor Skills Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education in Schools for the Mentally Retarded.This research selects M city,where the local economic level and population are both in the middle of the province,as the research object,and conducts field research on four schools for mentally retarded students in M city.It mainly uses self-made questionnaires to investigate,from the aspects of curriculum setting,teacher allocation,resource construction,home-school cooperation and teaching implementation,to explore the current situation of the implementation of the labor skills curriculum for mentally retarded students.At the same time,it combines interviews to explore deeper problems,and obtains original information by observing visits.The survey results show that : all schools in accordance with the curriculum requirements of the labor skills curriculum standard,and made the following experience is worth learning : to life as the core,according to local conditions to implement labor skills curriculum;taking practice as the starting point,we practice the implementation of labor skills curriculum;student development-oriented,individualized labor skills education;to integrate into society as the goal,pay attention to learning convergence and gradual improvement.However,there are also some problems,such as insufficient construction of curriculum teaching staff,limited scope of curriculum implementation,insufficient construction of curriculum resources,poor effectiveness of curriculum implementation,and lack of teaching practice.Based on the problems presented in the survey results,some possible reasons are analyzed,including insufficient attention from schools and lack of overall planning;the overall lack of teachers,teachers’ professional support is weak;the teaching content lacks reference and the evaluation system is not perfect;the resource construction capacity is weak and the guarantee capacity is insufficient;the lack of cooperation consciousness and immature cooperation mechanism;the study of relevant policies is simple,and the curriculum standards have not been effectively utilized.In view of the existing problems and their possible causes,combined with the requirements of the labor education policy in the new era,the following countermeasures are proposed : improve the top-level design,systematically promote the implementation of the curriculum;integrate curriculum resources and enhance communication between disciplines;optimize the structure of teachers and improve the overall allocation of teachers;pay attention to home-school cooperation,give full play to the role of family education;strengthen school-community relations and promote students’ gradual integration into mainstream society;expand the teaching form,using a variety of methods for subject teaching;enrich the evaluation form and carry out diversified labor skill evaluation;strengthen resource allocation and develop diversified school-based curriculum content.In order to provide reference for the implementation of the labor skills curriculum for students with mental retardation,so as to provide a modest effort for the labor education of mentally retarded students.
