Study On The Improvement Of Service Ability Of Community Elderly Volunteers Involved In Group Work

With the deepening of the aging degree of today’s society,a considerable part of the elderly take the initiative to participate in community volunteer service activities.The participation of the elderly in community volunteer service activities is not only conducive to improving social welfare and alleviating the problem of insufficient human resources caused by the aging population,but also enables them to improve their own activity ability in volunteer service activities,and gain a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction in serving the community and contributing to the society,which is also of great benefit to improving the physical and mental health of the elderly volunteers.But at present,there are many community elderly volunteers in our country facing the problem of weak volunteer service ability.This not only limits the growth of the elderly volunteer team,but also hinders the supply of high-quality services in the community,which is not conducive to the social development of the community.Social work and volunteer service are not only the same water but also mutually beneficial.Social work has its professional value,knowledge and skills as the guidance,and has always been a professional force to promote the development of volunteer service,and has its unique professional advantages in improving the service ability of elderly volunteers.As one of the main methods of social work,"group work" is a professional method in which social workers skillfully use professional methods and skills to promote learning and interaction among members of the group in the form of staged group(group)activities,and ultimately achieve the collective goals of the group.The group work method has great potential in improving the service ability of community elderly volunteers.Taking the theory of active aging as a research perspective,this paper takes S community in Xiamen as a case,and uses qualitative and quantitative research methods to investigate and analyze the problems and reasons of poor service ability of elderly volunteers in S community.Then,by searching relevant literature and combining with the actual situation of S community,the group work method is used to intervene in the improvement of the service ability of elderly volunteers in the community.After the end of the group activity,based on the process evaluation of the social worker’s comprehensive observation and record during the activity,as well as the self-evaluation of the group members,the evaluation of the social worker and the follow-up evaluation after the activity,the actual effect of the group activity was concluded: most of the elderly volunteers’ service ability at the personal,interpersonal and environmental levels was significantly improved,and the group work goal was basically achieved.Finally,based on the empirical data provided by this practical process in exploring the role of group work in improving the service ability of community elderly volunteers,this study is summarized: First,the group work method has unique advantages in improving the service ability of community elderly volunteers;Second,social workers play a unique role in improving the service ability of community elderly volunteers at all levels;Third,the theory of active aging can effectively promote the construction of community elderly volunteer team.
