Widely conducting innovation and entrepreneurship education in universities is not only an important measure to cultivate students’ innovation and entrepreneurship spirit and improve their practical abilities in innovation and entrepreneurship,but also a major way to provide talent support for China’s implementation of the innovation driven development strategy and building an innovative country.In recent years,with the high attention and policy support of the government,China’s universities have made positive progress in innovation and entrepreneurship education,with innovation and entrepreneurship education courses being generally offered.However,the construction of various aspects of the innovation and entrepreneurship education curriculum still needs to be improved,affecting the effectiveness of the innovation and entrepreneurship education curriculum.Through literature research,case study,and comparative research methods,this article selects the innovation and entrepreneurship education curriculum at the University of Warwick,a model of European entrepreneurial universities,as the research object.It conducts an in-depth analysis of its curriculum construction from five aspects: curriculum objectives,curriculum structure,curriculum content,curriculum teaching,and curriculum teachers,and summarizes the successful experience and enlightenment of the innovation and entrepreneurship education curriculum construction at Warwick University.Since the establishment of the innovation and entrepreneurship education curriculum in1987,the construction of the innovation and entrepreneurship education curriculum at Warwick University has gradually improved and formed the following characteristics: The curriculum objectives align with the school’s innovation development strategy and talent cultivation objectives.The curriculum structure meets the needs of different student groups such as undergraduate students,graduate students,and enterprise employees.The course content combines innovation and entrepreneurship education content with subject expertise.The curriculum teaching adopts various forms such as seminars,collaborative learning,scenario simulation,and secret room escape,and cooperates with the innovation and entrepreneurship departments to organize various activities.The curriculum teachers have introduced various talents such as teachers from the innovation and entrepreneurship topic group,teachers from the innovation and entrepreneurship department,and student innovation researchers.With the training of innovation and entrepreneurship education courses,Warwick University students’ awareness of innovation and entrepreneurship has been improved,their innovation and entrepreneurship skills have been continuously enhanced,and they have strong employment competitiveness.Based on the successful experience of the innovation and entrepreneurship education curriculum at Warwick University and the existing problems in China’s universities,this study proposes the following suggestions for the improvement of the innovation and entrepreneurship education curriculum in China’s universities: The first,China’s universities should adhere to the correct orientation of cultivating innovation and entrepreneurship talents,and reconstruct the curriculum objectives from multiple levels such as cognition,skills,emotions,and applications.The secondly,promoting the systematic construction of the curriculum structure of innovation and entrepreneurship education requires not only actively exploring new types of innovation and entrepreneurship education courses,but also emphasizing the logic and continuity between courses.The third,enrich the content of specialized and innovative integrated courses,and realize the two-way promotion of professional education and innovation and entrepreneurship education.The fourth,actively expand teaching forms and activities,increase practical and situational teaching methods in class,and build an innovation and entrepreneurship practice platform as a supplement after class.The fifth,broaden the channels for introducing innovative and entrepreneurial talents,improve the quality and ability of the teaching staff,and create a team of innovative and entrepreneurial education teachers with excellent professional capabilities.
