Research On The Cultivation Of Volunteer Organizations Of Retired Elderly People In Citie

According to the latest statistics released by the 7th Census in 2020,260 million people in China are aged 60 and above,and what is more important to note is that nearly 190 million people are aged 65 and above.According to our demographic model,the size of our elderly population is expected to continue to grow rapidly in the future.With the further acceleration of population ageing in China,how to achieve active ageing and fully utilise the human capital of the elderly group has become an important issue that needs urgent attention in dealing with population ageing in China.The cultivation and development of voluntary organisations for the elderly can,in a sense,alleviate the social burden caused by an ageing population and bring a new model of "helping the elderly with the elderly" to the community.Joining a voluntary organisation for the elderly is a major channel for the elderly to actively participate in social activities,and is also a response to the active ageing policy of "active ageing",as well as a positive expression of self-fulfilment.Fostering voluntary organisations for the elderly in community services centres is not only conducive to social participation and integration of the elderly into society,but also enhances the quality of life of the elderly.The flourishing development of social welfare services in China is not only supported by top-level policies,but also relies on a growing team of social workers and various voluntary organisations.retired elderly people in YS communities have rich working experience,have plenty of spare time after retirement,and most of them have a great need for social participation,making them the best candidates for voluntary services for the elderly in the community.Social workers adopt a social work approach to participate in the cultivation of the YS community elderly volunteer organisation,guiding the organisation to improve its standardised volunteer management system and develop an effective incentive mechanism,while bringing in external resources to empower the elderly volunteers within the organisation to volunteer.This paper uses the X Social Work Service Station senior volunteer organisation cultivation project in HK as the research object.It aims to record and analyse the cultivation process of senior volunteer organisations in the YS community by using sociological research methods such as in-depth observation,questionnaires and semi-structured interviews,and to summarise the effectiveness and shortcomings of the cultivation of senior volunteer organisations in the YS community.The study aims to improve the service system of community elderly voluntary organisations,enhance the volunteering capacity of voluntary organisations,help complete the transformation of local social welfare organisations towards community social capital,provide a way for elderly people to participate in society through voluntary organisations,and promote the flourishing of local elderly voluntary services.
