Since the reform and opening up,China’s society and economy have developed rapidly,and people’s living standards have been greatly improved.However,with the rapid economic development,some families have poverty problems.Among the low-income families,children are relatively affected by family poverty.Therefore,our country attaches great importance to the problem of poor children.Since 2010,children have been given priority in the national strategy,and the state has issued a series of policies on child welfare and protection.China’s child welfare and protection system has been continuously improved.At present,the main problems faced by poor children are: on the one hand,due to poor economic conditions,they lack necessary material information and nutritional supplements needed by their bodies,thus affecting their normal physical development;On the other hand,a series of problems caused by family poverty will directly affect children’s psychological state,resulting in their low self-confidence and poor communication with others.Social communication is very important for children’s socialization and healthy development of body and mind.It can help individual development to get rid of self-centeredness,recognize social roles,strengthen emotional support and promote mental health.Therefore,it is of great significance to help children from low-income families improve their social communication ability.The research object is the children of low-income families in Y Street,Wuxi City.Through observation,interview and questionnaire,we can find out the problems in social communication of low-income families.The specific problems are lack of initiative in social communication,social communication barriers,poor verbal and nonverbal communication skills and lack of pro-social behavior.To solve these problems,the author used the group work method,based on the theory of dominant perspective,and carried out the growth group activities with the theme of "accompanying all the way" to help children from urban low-income families improve their social communication ability.The innovation of this study is mainly reflected in the innovation of research object and research content.In the research object,there are few studies related to children from urban low-income families,and in the research content,there are also few studies related to the ability of group work to intervene in children’s social interaction.After the end of this group activity,the author evaluated the effect of the group activity by means of effectiveness evaluation and satisfaction evaluation,and drew the following conclusions:1.The social communication ability of children from urban low-income families has been improved;2.Group work has obvious advantages in improving children’s social communication ability;3.The theory of dominant perspective plays a significant role in the effectiveness of group activities;Secondly,the author deeply reflected on his professional ability,service methods and service time in this study.Finally,the author puts forward four suggestions:1.Policy support: establishing and perfecting the social security system;2.Professional services: expanding the scale of school social workers;3.Social support: give full play to the role of the community and various social organizations;4.Psychological support:guardians should pay attention to children’s psychology.
