The Eighth National Student Physical Health Survey shows that the physical health test scores of college students have not increased but decreased. As an important means of improving students’ physical health, public physical education courses in colleges and universities have been widely concerned. This research uses the method of literature, questionnaire, experiment, interview, and mathematical statistics.First,it analyzes the physical health test scores of all students in Guizhou University in 2020,and explores the factors that affect the physical and healthy development of students in Guizhou University. Then, through the curriculum reform experiment to optimize the physical education content, improve the students’ physical fitness test results in a targeted manner, enhance students’ physical fitness, and cultivate students’ lifelong sports awareness. The results of the study are as follows:1.Comparing the physical health test scores of students in different grades,it is found that the pass rate of the physical health test of the freshmen is the highest among the four grades. The failure rate of the test is over 50%,and the failure rate of the senior girls in the 800-meter project is over 40%.In the project test, the performance of sitting forward bending is generally good, and the pass rate of the four grades is above99%.In terms of gender, boys’ 50-meter test scores are significantly better than girls’,while there is a big difference in lung capacity test scores between boys and girls. The pass rate of girls is 100%,and the pass rate of boys is only 70%.What is more noteworthy is that in the test results of the pull-up project, the failure rate of boys exceeds 70%.2.The questionnaire on the influencing factors of physical health found that the arrangement of the school’s public physical education courses will have a great impact on the students’ physical health test scores, especially the students’ after-school sports behavior. The physical fitness test scores of students who exercise regularly are significantly higher than those of students who do not exercise regularly.Students’ ability to train for physical fitness test items needs to be improved. In daily life habits, the smoking behavior of boys may be one of the main factors affecting their lung capacity performance.3.Through a 10-week physical education curriculum reform experiment combining diverse in-class teaching forms and normalization of extra-curricular practical activities,it was found that the students in the experimental class had significantly improved sports interest, the students in the class had more positive sports feedback, the classroom atmosphere was more active, and the students participated in extra-curricular sports.Be more active and exercise more frequently each week.Judging from the results of the physical fitness test, the total scores of the students in the experimental class and the control class have improved. The meters and boys’ 1000 meters have improved significantly, and there is a statistically significant difference.
