Spatial structure is the carrier of tourism activities and one of the hot topics in tourism research.Whether the regional spatial structure is reasonable or not plays an important role in the development of the region, especially in the aspect of tourism spatial structure.Whether the tourism spatial structure planning of tourist destination is reasonable or not will directly affect the local tourism development, tourism development and comprehensive competitiveness of tourism. This paper is based on the background of Hainan’s efforts to build a free trade port and an international tourism island, especially General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in his speech to celebrate the 30 th anniversary of Hainan’s establishment of a special economic zone that Hainan’s construction of a free trade port should focus on the development of tourism, modern service industry and high-tech industries.Tourism,as a traditional pillar industry of Hainan province, plays a pivotal role in the province’s economic development. As of 2019,the total revenue of tourism accounted for 19.78% of the province’s GDP.Therefore, reasonable planning and adjustment of tourism spatial structure can inject new impetus into the sustainable development of Hainan’s tourism industry, continue to improve tourism competitiveness and optimize industrial layout.Based on the point-axis theory, the paper uses SPSS(23.0)software for statistical analysis of the data, and uses the method of combining quantitative and qualitative methods to define the "point" and "axis" in the tourism spatial structure. In this paper,Hainan Island is taken as the research object, and the point-axis theory, which plays a great guiding role in regional development and construction of tourism spatial structure,is taken as the basic theory.Firstly, this paper reviews the previous researches on tourism spatial structure and the application of point-axis theory in tourism spatial structure, and then defines the concept of tourism spatial structure and point-axis theory by summarizing and analyzing the previous research results.Secondly, the paper makes a detailed investigation and analysis on the natural environment, cultural environment, tourism resources, traffic structure, tourism development and other aspects of 18 cities and counties in Hainan Island.Through consulting official statistics and literature materials, the detailed and real background of constructing tourism spatial structure in Hainan Island is obtained. Then, the index system for calculating the regional centrality of 18 cities and counties is constructed by summing up and summarizing. The regional centrality of each city and county is obtained by factor analysis method, and then the tourism economic correlation value is combined to determine the important nodes and development axis of Hainan Island’s tourism development. Finally, the tourism spatial structure of Hainan Island is proposed as follows: Two core(Sanya,Haikou)five tourist center(Wanning,Danzhou,Wenchang,Qionghai,Lingshui),four major tourism development axis(eastern, central and western, transverse)and five tourist area(southeast coastal island leisure tourist area, the historical and cultural theme park tourist areas in northern, central tropical forest tourist area, central national folk rural tourist area, western leisure drive tourist area),It is summarized as "Double heart and five points, four main axes and five major regions",providing help for the strategic goals of promoting the sustainable development of Hainan’s tourism industry, accelerating the construction of an international tourism island, building a free trade port and focusing on the development of tourism.
