Study On The Countermeasures Of Apple Industry Development In Feng County Of Jiangsu Province

Feng County is the biggest fruit production base in Jiangsu Province.Apple industry has been in a long history with a good mass foundation.To further advance the development of the modern apple industry in Feng County,the paper has a further understanding of the current situation and propose correspondent development countermeasures through finding data,compare with the development of the apple industry ten years ago,field visits and survey statistics.The townships and towns with the bigger growing area of apple,Huashan,Dashahe,Songlou and Shizai of Feng County are chosen to have an investigation of the current situation of the apple industry.It has been investigated with 70 apple growers accumulatively.Through the specific investigation of the four aspects,including industrial level,production cost and benefit analysis,orchard management,it is found as followings:(1)the labor force in apple growing families is less and there are 2 workers normall and most of them are males;the ageing problem is serious since the workers older than 50 years accounts for 82.86% of the sample;the educational level is lower since those with the degree of the high school above only takes up 5.71% of the samples;(2)the orchard of the growing families is built earlier;51.43% of them are built before 1990,so the product type is ageing with worse quality.88.57% of growing families’ orchard is less than 10 acres,so their scale is smaller with a lower degree of farmer’s organization,single industrial business form and loose linkage between sales and production.(3)The output and quality of apple are greatly affected by a natural disaster,and the huge increase of labor cost raises the production cost of apple,but the unit price is the same basically,so the proportion between the output and input of apple is going down,and the benefit is slipping.(4)The product structure is single.Most of them are the late-maturing Fuji apples while there is a serious shortage of the early and medium-maturing products.The late-maturing is more than enough to sell.The apples are sold together so there is a decline in the price.(5)Growers mainly manage their orchards with growing experience,so they extremely lack qualification,vocational skills and innovation ability.(6)The sales channel of apple growers is single and the flowing system is imperfect.It is based on traditional sales and the online sales are smaller with less turnover,which greatly limits the development of the fruit industry in Feng County.To conclude and compare the development and tendency of the apple industry in Feng County in the past ten years,it begins from climate change,industrialization of apple,production cost and benefit analysis of apple,type structure,limitation factors during the production,sales channels and other methods to have a specific analysis on the change in the industry in the past ten years(2009-2020).After analysis,it was found:(1)The ageing situation of growers is serious and the proportion between the two genders as the head is imbalanced.(2)The family income has been soaring and the source of income is diversified.The proportion of apple revenue in the total income has been obviously declined.(3)The increase in migrant workers has caused a shortage of rural labor and increased labor costs.(4)There is an updated in the product structure.The proportion of late-maturing Fuji apple is reduced and the collocation of the maturity is improved.(5)The sales channel structure is updated since it has been switched from traditional sales to “Internet Plus” new sales model.Based on the current situation of the apple industry in Feng County,it is adopted with a SWOT analysis mode to have a comprehensive overall analysis on the development’s strength,weakness,opportunity and threat,so as to propose the countermeasure for the further development of apple industry in Feng County of Jiangsu Province:(1)Vigorously promote the dwarfing and self-rooted apple planting model to improve apple quality and productivity;(2)Increase regional brand promotion,unified management and strengthen brand protection;(3)Use the advantage of the Yangtze River Delta to further expand apple consumption Market(4)integrate and circulate the small-scaled land distraction and improve the land-use mechanism,so as to develop a proper-scaled business;(5)stipulate positive human resource quick plan to introduce high-end talents and focus on the cultivation of new vocational farmers;enhance the input power and relevant policy supporting for the fruit industry;(6)have a gradual promotion of policy fruit insurance to reduce the risk of fruit growers;have a positive cooperation with meteorological department to timely release the warning information,so as to reduce the loss caused by the natural disaster.
