ObjectiveBiomedical industry has become one of the most potential sunrise industries withthe breakthrough of modern biotechnology in the pharmaceutical field. At the sametime it has become one of the most intense national competition and importantstrategic high ground. Facing to the vehemence market competition, how doesChinese biomedical industry take advantage of opportunities, meet challenges andachieve sustainable development is a major issue related to our medical and healthundertaking and the national economy. As the body of the biomedical industry, biopharmaceutical enterprises must maintain and enhance their competitiveness inorder to survive in the fierce market competition. The ability of enterprise to quickly create knowledge is the most importantsource for maintaining its long-term competitive advantage in the knowledgeeconomy era. Knowledge integration is an important component part of the enterpriseto enhance knowledge creativity and a necessary condition for knowledge creation. The level of knowledge Integration is particularly important for biopharmaceuticalenterprise owing to its knowledge-intensive characteristics. It has great theoretical andpractical significance to improve the efficiency of knowledge integration forenhancing the ability of knowledge creation and core competitiveness ofbiopharmaceutical enterprise.MethodsAccording to the objective, this study firstly defines the connotation of theenterprise knowledge integration under the IDE-SECI model framework and abstractsthe constitution of the enterprise knowledge integration. The next this study dividesthe roles of the staff in the session of knowledge sharing. Then this study constructs a general process of enterprise knowledge integration based on the IDE-SECI modeland divides the periods of enterprise into three phases according to enterprise lifecycle theory and analysis the characteristics of knowledge innovation and theobjective of the knowledge integration in each phase. On this basis, this studyillustrates the roles of knowledge sources that enterprise should select in the session ofknowledge acquisition and the roles of staff that enterprise should select in the sessionof knowledge sharing in order to achieve the specific objective of the different phaseof enterprise. Finally this study proposed the models and mechanism of knowledgeintegration which match with the objectives of the different phase of enterprise andselect biopharmaceutical enterprises as an example to put forward the strategies forenhancing the effective of knowledge integration in each models.ResultsKnowledge sources in certain areas can be divided three roles that arecore knowledge sources, bridge knowledge sources and common knowledge sourcesby the method of patentee co-citation analysis. At the same time the staff can bedivided four roles that are core staff, bridge staff, potential staff and common staff inthe session of knowledge sharing by the method of knowledge network analysis. There should be three patterns according to the knowledge source roles that theenterprise selects in the session of knowledge acquisition and the staff roles that theenterprise selects in the session of knowledge knowledge.ConclusionThe conclusions of this study are as follows:(1) The connotation of the knowledge integration of enterprise that based onIDE-SECI model includes that external knowledge integration, internal explicit/tacitknowledge integration and internal old/new knowledge integration. The process of theknowledge integration of enterprise that based on IDE-SECI is composed of foursessions which refer to knowledge acquisition, knowledge screening, knowledgesharing and knowledge fusion.(2) Knowledge sources according to their knowledge stock can be divided threeroles that are core knowledge sources, bridge knowledge sources and common knowledge sources in the session of knowledge acquisition. There are tworelationships referred to potential partner and potential competitors between commonknowledge sources. The roles of the knowledge sources can be distinguished throughthe method of patent assignee co-citation network analysis.(3) The staff within the enterprise according to their knowledge ability andknowledge willingness can be divided four roles that are core staff, bridge staff, potential staff and common staff in the session of knowledge sharing. The roles of thestaffs can be identified through the method of staff knowledge network analysis.(4) Based on the IDE-SECI model the general process of knowledge integrationis a continuous circular process which contains five phases referred to knowledgeInnovation demand recognition, knowledge acquisition, knowledge screening, knowledge sharing and knowledge fusion. To achieve their special objectives ofknowledge integration enterprises in different phrases should select the suitable rolesof knowledge sources in the in the session of knowledge acquisition and subsequentlyselect appropriate roles of staff in the session of knowledge sharing. These all makethe process of knowledge integration of the enterprise in different stages their owncharacteristics.(5) The models and mechanism of knowledge integration of the enterprises indifferent stages are discriminate according to their own characteristics. In this case, the enterprise should adopt pertinence strategies to enhance the effective ofknowledge integration in different models.
