Existing research shows that the organizational culture is an important resource for enhancing the corporate competitiveness. In recent years, more and more attention is paid to the impact of organizational culture on organizational effectiveness: how much changes can be brought to the organizational effectiveness by the efforts made by organizational culture.Based on the existing research achievements, the author applied relative theories such as management psychology, organization behavior, organizational management, management and modern human resource management to define the variables and structure of organizational culture, and deepen the research, which provides the theoretical basis for the theoretical and empirical research of organizational culture.This research applies the methodology of management psychology scale with which the empirical research is conducted to the various enterprises mainly in the area of Shanghai regarding the relations between organizational culture and organizational effectiveness. The scales used include the self-developed "organizational culture scale" and "employee satisfaction scale", and the "organizational effectiveness scale" mentioned in existing literature. Before developing the "organizational culture scale" and "employee satisfaction scale", the author identifies the scale structure and develops the pre-test scale through structured interview and other means based on existing research. The pre-tests get 189 valid subjects. Through the item analysis, the author develops the formal scale. Altogether 852 valid subjects are tested. The results of Confirmation Factor Analysis (CFA) show, the formal scale is of good credibility and validity. It is suitable for this research.Following results are achieved through theoretical and empirical research:I. Organizational culture variables and structure are defined.II. Following specific empirical results are achieved:i. The mission, involvement and consistence of organizational culture are of significantpositive correlation with the employee's satisfaction, while they are of significantnegative correlation with the employee's leave tendencies, ii. The mission, adaptability and involvement of organizational culture are of significantpositive correlation with the corporate competitiveness, iii. The mission and involvement of organizational culture are of significant positivecorrelation with the expansion or reduction of the corporate product/service scope, iv. The mission, involvement and adaptability of organizational culture are of significantpositive correlation with the corporate abilities of task fulfillment and the expansion orreduction of corporate tasks, v. The mission, involvement and consistence of organizational culture are of significantpositive correlation with the corporate income and the corporate performanceevaluation by people around, vi. There is no difference in organizational culture in terms of sex and position, while thereis difference in terms of different corporate characteristics.a. There is difference in organizational culture in terms of corporate type. The involvement and adaptability of FIEs are better than those of the SOEs, while the mission of private enterprises and FIEs is stronger than that of SOEs.b. There is difference in terms of corporate industry. The adaptability of retail industry is better than that of the financial/insurance industry.c. There is difference in terms of corporate scale. The adaptability of too large or too small corporate is relatively poor.d. There is difference in terms of corporate history. Companies with over 20 years' history show poor involvement, while companies with over 10 years' history show poor adaptability and mission.The results of the theoretical probing and empirical research are of both theoretical and practical importance for the theoretical research of organizational culture and corporate management practices.
