The former is symbolized by global flow of increasingly free production, trade and investment. The latter is characteristic of regional development closely related to interests of given geography or nations.Manufacture globalization and localization is a miniature of production globalization and localization. According to the trend of world economic development, the manufacture is the footstone of a nation's economic development, the bedrock of national competitiveness and the pillar of the global economic development. In the history, three countries - England, America and Japan were reputed the World Factory or the World Manufacture Center, due to the fact that their development of manufacture resulted in vast economic advancement and market prosperity. At present, advanced manufacture and manufacture technologies have been considered as an important index to measure a nation's comprehensive economic strength and scientific level. It is also valued as the key factor for a nation to win fierce competition in the international market. According to a statistics, in industrialized countries, about one fourth of population are engaged in manufacture and about 70% to 80% of wealth is produced by manufacture. Viewed from the angle of industrial development, economic globalization is in reality the world industrial structure adjustment, which is mainly driven by developed countries and transnational corporations. The profound strategic reconstruction of the present world manufacture is no other than a miniature of economic globalization. On the other hand, production globalization has resulted in great unbalance, instead of even special distribution of enterprises' production and operation. Even in one country, prosperity and decay, development and stagnation coexist in different areas. Some areas are successful because of their un-imitable competitiveness and sustained development capability as a result of industrial cluster of numerous relevant enterprises and establishment of innovation mechanism. It is the localized industrial cluster that nations rely on to take part in global competition. It is also the coexistence of production globalization and localization that produces far-reaching affection on the world economy.The trend of economic globalization and localization has aroused great concern of the theoretical cycle. Overview of domestic and foreign research fruits shows thatthey are mainly centralized in the fields of theoretical origins, definition, evolution and some measures of globalization and localization. Nevertheless, research on the interaction of globalization and localization started from the 80s of last century. In one word, research on the globalization and localization is still in the preliminary stage, ideas have not been conformed widely and theory system has not been formed. It seems especially necessary to study the correlation mechanism and operational mechanism of globalization and localization. The following questions are to be considered and answered: why and how globalization and localization would be correlated and interacted with one another? How would they affect the economic development? What kind of industrial distribution and organizational pattern would be formed under globalization? How would the global and local manufacture evolve and how would competitive superiority be established? What is the new viewpoint of corporate strategies and governmental policies of Chinese manufacture? The above questions provide opportunity and room for further research of this thesis.On the basis of foreign and domestic research, the thesis comprehensively applies theories such as industrial economics, international economics and new economic sociology in probing into correlation mechanism, operational mechanism, strategic pattern and institutional environment of globalization and localization. In the light of Chinese situation, it puts forward policy suggestions to promote Chinese manufacture.The research is divided into three parts as follows: 1. Basic theoretical research of globalization and localization through summing up and analyzing existing theoretical fruits, it explains theoretical origins of globalization and localization and brings forward theoretical room for further research.(D Globalization was a hot issue of the 80s of the last century in the theoretical cycle. The thesis basically conforms to the definition by Jean Stuart in 2001. it points out that globalization involves all-round globalization of economics, politics, society and culture. It is a global development trend and process resulted from time and space surmounting of economic relationship, social relationship and cultural spread.(2) It sums up definitions of localization by different scholars from different levels of the nation, the area and the enterprise. It points out that manufacture localization is caused by national differences. Only when some factors of the differences are sufficient to affect corporate superiorities would the localization beaccelerated. Industrial cluster symbolizes the localization law under manufacture globalization.(3) it sums up theoretical ideas related to globalization and localization from research fruits of the artery economics, industrial economics, international economics, new economics sociology and glocalization.? it points out that research on globalization and localization at present is till in the preliminary stage. Research on the interactive principles of globalization and localization is still very weak. Research on correlation mechanism of manufacture globalization and localization is especially necessary. It points out that it is urgent to establish the theoretical system of manufacture globalization and localization.2. Research on interactive principles and paths of manufacture globalization and localization.From the angle of connecting theories with practice, it emphatically expounds interactive mechanism of manufacture globalization and localization as well as their influences on economic development.CD It expounds contents and features of manufacture globalization and localization. Then it quantitatively and qualitatively analyzes developing situation and trends of contemporary manufacture.(2) it enquires into the interactive mechanism, patterns, developing stages and routes as well as its influences in economic development. Then, it puts out the evaluation index system of their correlation. Through authentic research of amounts of evidence, it appraises the performance of Chinese manufacture globalization and localization.(3) It analyzes industrial space distribution structure under globalization and enquires into the value chain integration and total space integration law of industrial development. It brings forward the cultivating, forming and developing mechanism of industrial cluster in localization.3.
