Humanistic education is an important theoretical and practical issue in Chinese current higher educational reform development. The deficiency of humanistic education reflects the deviation of school running concept and the dislocation of school running objective of higher vocational colleges. To upgrade students'professional humanistic making and professional humanistic spirits through professional humanistic education is the essential embodiment of the school running concept of higher vocational colleges and the proper choice of school running objective.In the realistic educational life, humanistic education should be concrete and graphic, especially it should be closely related with the realistic life of the educatees and the future social roles or professional roles. Different types of school educational activities cover humanistic education with different nature and contents, emphasizing particularly on cultivating students'humanistic making with different connotation. Through questionnaire survey and interviews with part of the teachers and students of Chinese higher vocational colleges, we can see that the teachers and students of this type of schools are different from those of the other types of colleges in the demand of humanistic educational contents. Therefore, after theoretical discrimination, the core concept of professional humanistic education is formed. The so-called professional humanistic education is a kind of educational activity implemented by higher vocational colleges facing to the whole students, forming its professional making and cultivating professional spirits. Its contents include professional values, professional ethics, professional core capability and professional career planning with the characteristics of being professional, complete, integrated, opening, penetration and activity. The professional humanistic education with being professional as its essential characteristics constitutes the soul of vocational education with its completeness and integration, developing students'professional capability with its penetration and activity and promoting the realization of students'working capability with its opening.This paper focuses on the theme of professional humanistic education. Through the survey on the 15 cities and 26 higher vocational colleges nationwide, analysis has been done on the status quo and problems of the Chinese higher vocational college humanistic education. The objective, significance, contents and characteristics of higher vocational colleges to develop professional humanistic education, as well as the ways and methods to implement professional humanistic education have been pointed out. The main body of this paper can be divided into 5 parts:The first part of this research describes and analyzes the status quo and problems of the Chinese higher vocational college humanistic education applying the method that combines quantitative analysis with qualitative analysis. The survey shows that the development level of the Chinese current higher vocational college humanistic education is unbalanced; some of the higher vocational colleges are not attaching enough importance to cultivating students'humanistic knowledge education and humanistic spirits, especially lack of professional humanistic education with professional values, professional ethics, professional capability and professional career planning as its contents.The second part of this research analyzes the history ad realistic causes of the deficiency of higher vocational college humanistic education, pointing out that scientism values take the dominant position in the development history of the Chinese vocational education, which is still bearing unfavorable influences on Chinese higher vocational education development; there is deviation in the cultivation objective of higher vocational colleges where the utilitarian value orientation ignores the cultivation of students'humanistic makings; technology- oriented conception of education is affecting the talent cultivation mode of higher vocational schools, where the deviation of school running positioning leads to weak pertinence of humanistic education; higher vocational college humanistic education fails to closely agree with talent standard and lack of mechanism of stimulating teachers to carry out vocational humanistic education.The third part of this research brings forward the core concept of professional humanistic education by analyzing the unique cultivation objective of higher vocational colleges, characteristic specialty setting and curriculum design, as well as the educational teaching mode different from that of common universities. It summarizes that the contents of professional humanistic education includes professional values, professional ethics, professional core capability and professional career planning, generalizing that the characteristics of professional humanistic education rest with its profession, completeness, integration, opening, penetration and activity, and analyzing the objective and significance of higher vocational colleges to develop professional humanistic education.Combining with the successful cases of the part of higher vocational colleges, the forth and fifth part of this research probes into the approach and method of implementing vocational humanistic education, including the establishment of school running concepts which integrate scientific education with humanistic education, the reform of teaching contents and methods with the cultivation of professional humanistic making as its objective, the construction of campus culture reflecting professional humanistic characteristics and the teaching team with reasonable structure and high quality, and the establishment of higher vocational college students'professional humanistic quality evaluation system so as to offer new way of thinking for the Chinese higher vocational colleges to establish perfect professional humanistic educational system.
