Good humanistic literacy is a basic condition for higher vocational students of art to engage in art creation and is the inside need of the art. It is also a necessary factor to improve comprehensive quality of art students into all-round development of artistic talents in higher vocational education. And it is the need to rich spirit world, judge right or wrong, resist temptation. Nowadays, the temporary status of art students'humanistic literacy in higher vocational education is being worried for various reasons inside and outside.We start from the meaning of humanistic literacy and analyze the important meaning of humanistic literacy to the art students in higher vocational education. By the questionnaires, we know the actual performance about the lack of humanistic literacy to the art students in higher vocational education, which are poor for literacy knowledge, especial lack of art literacy knowledge, less for humanistic spirits, especial lack of art humanistic spirits, and poor for creation ability with low aesthetic visions. It is not conducive to development of art students in higher vocational education and art higher vocational education, but also obstructs the improvement of our socialist spiritual civilization.So we analyze the reason with the higher vocational students of art in lack of humanities accomplishment from society, colleges, enterprises and students themselves. For those reason, we think there are five means to improve the humanities accomplishment of higher vocational students of art. Firstly, we should change old ideas and comprehensively understand the aim of higher vocational education of art. Secondly, we should make good use of the professional advantage of art and optimize the old teaching method of humanistic education. Thirdly, we should create a good atmosphere for art education. Fourthly, we should improve the quality of art students and conduct them to be correct positioning of the main self-guided. Finally, we should set up the evaluation system of humanities accomplishment for higher vocational students of art.
