In recent years, with the further development of national economy and gradually increasing policy support in rural areas, especially in the poor rural areas, the environment of economic and social development and the production and living conditions of the poor areas have improved significantly. However, China’s anti-poverty task is becoming more and more onerous with the further direction of the system reforming, which combined with international and domestic situation changes in the economic and social development. Therefore, it’s of much significance in practice and theories to continue researching on anti-poverty work mechanism. This dissertation consider that cultivating and enriching the social capital of the poor areas can not only directly slow down the level of poverty in poor areas, but also help farmers in poor areas to effectively grasp the good chance of the development of family small-scale agriculture, which based on the support with national and international documents. Meantime, this also can respond effectively to the challenges of poverty alleviation in the new period, and further improve the production and development of the condition of the farmers in poverty-stricken areas as well as to enhance their capacity on independent development.The dissertation consists of six parts.Part Ⅰ is introduction, which described the background and significance of the issue, and comprehensively summarize the social capital theory, the industrialization of agriculture in poverty alleviation, the social capital and poverty and the social capital and the industrialization of agriculture. Research methods, the innovation and the basic framework of this paper are also expounded.Part Ⅱ is about concept definition and study sample. Concepts of social capital, poverty alleviation by agricultural industrialization, poverty and farmers are defined. Important development aspects of population, culture, poverty situation and agricultural resources in Jianshi are overviewed. The representativeness of the sample is described.Part Ⅲ is about the social capital and poverty. Poor farmers’ individual stock of social capital is very low. But the social capital stock of poverty-stricken areas is relatively abundant. The lack of individual collective social capital stock is further strengthen the weak position of the poor farmers, while the richness of collective social capital stock can help alleviating the collective irrational plight which create potential opportunities for the development of poor areas and poor households.Part Ⅳ is about the social capital and poverty alleviation by agricultural industrialization. In this chapter, development prospects of family small-scale agricultural in poor areas, mode selection of poverty alleviation of agricultural industrialization, the association between the poverty alleviation by agricultural industrialization and social capital of the poor farmers and the relationship between agricultural industrialization helping the poor and the construction of the ideal model of collective social capital are included.Part V is about changes of social capital and ways of nurturing social capital. Based on the discussion above, also referring to the behavior style of Chinese and the farmers’ credit system, this chapter proposed:"Empowering the people", i.e., protection of traditional social capital resources in poor areas;"accelerating the transformation", i.e., to compensate the lack of trust, cultivate the social capital in poor areas and propose specific method on mechanism and policy of improving poverty alleviation by agricultural industrialization through social institutional adjustment to compensate the lack of trust in poor areas. And specific ideas to improve the mechanism and policies of poverty alleviation of agricultural industrialization in poor areas are proposed.Part VI is about conclusions and reflections. Relationships between social capital, poverty, poverty alleviation by agricultural industrialization and poverty reduction are discussed. The role of agricultural economic cooperation organization to promote of the restructuring of social capital in poor areas is discussed.
