The Chinese selected text is the Chinese experts elaborately selected to studentslearning of literary classics, which occupies an important position in the Chinesecurriculum. The seleted texts in Chinese textbooks of the Republic of China (CTROC)are precious cultural heritage which are worth us to study and utilize. Selected textsrequire not only the observation of education, but also the involvement of a literaryperspective, especially the involvement of dimensional theory for classics andselections. This paper just uses dimensional and selective perspective to study theCTROC’s features and it’s forming reason.In order to grasp the general picture of the CTROC, this paper adopted a methodof quantitative analysis, selected32sets of middle school Chinese textbooks of theCTROC as samples, established respectively databases of junior high school, seniorhigh school, and classical, and to calculate classical index of each text.This paper selected some observation point to describe the general picture ofCTROC, which include top100classical texts, representing writers, top3writers andtheir works, classical anthology and texts, and top poet&ci which selected from it.The feature of CTROC has7selective orientations&2special subjects. Theselective orientations include aesthetic, cultural, political, pragmatic, education andwomen’s liberation; the subjects include translation and history. The texts of aestheticaccounted for four out of ten, which manly content is existential perception, includeof life experience, feelings, and imagination. The discursive construction of aesthetictexts is built on aesthetic experience, but also doping political&cultural discourse.The texts of cultural accounted for1/4, which include traditional and modern culturestexts. The former mainly include Confucianism, Taoists, and Mohism; the lattermainly include individualism, responsibility, etc. The text of political orientationaccounted for18%, which include ideological, state discourse and society politicaldiscourse. The ideological texts were based on the education strategy of the KMTdoctrines; the regime’s discourse texts’ purport is patriotism, which content focused on patriotic and resistance; the society political texts’ are mainly the political designand imagination of the new china by the citizens of the ROC. The other selectedorientations and special subjects’ texts also occupy a certain space, these texts wereconstructed by the relevant discourses.The biggest advantage of CTROC is conforming to the times, and put forth effortto construct ideational culture. But some CTROC were outdated. In addition, theCTROC also reveal the feature of potential discourse practice by the Chinese experts.
