Study Of The Development Pattern Of American Entrepreneurial Universities With The Theoretical Perspective Of Resource Dependence

The development of higher education is under the influence of many factors, and the developmental pattern of higher education in the USA is also the outcome of combined action of various factors. As an open organization, it is necessary for the university to exchange resources with the external environment to maintain the sustainable development of itself, which is obvious in the process of the development of American universities, especially in the development of entrepreneurial universities. We could even say that resource exchange exists throughout the developmental process of the entrepreneurial university, therefore, to study the pattern of entrepreneurial university development based on resource dependence perspective has a great theoretical significance and practical significance, and the entrepreneurial universities in the USA developed earlier and rapidly, thus providing reference for the development of entrepreneurial universities in the rest of the world. This paper selects the developmental pattern of entrepreneurial university as the research object, and provides a deep analysis on the condition of universities' depending on resources and the resource they depend to their own development as well as the impact of resource dependence.This study takes organization theory as the basic theoretical foundation, and makes an analysis on America's entrepreneurial universities in the face of economic crisis through the perspective of resource dependence, especially on the system adjusting environmental changes such as development strategy. This paper makes a special analysis on the pattern of university development faced with changes, respectively from the perspective of macro and micro analysis, giving a comprehensive and systematical explanation.This paper is composed of introduction and four chapters.The introduction mainly deals with research reason, research questions, research status, research methods and the theoretical and practical significance of this study and research value described, at the same time, for the purposes of this article involving several core concepts are also made.The first chapter mainly discusses the resource dependence theory to the aptness of entrepreneurial university development pattern research. This chapter first has carried on the elaboration to the resource dependence theory, and then the aptness of studv of American entrepreneurial universities' developmental pattern in the perspective of resource dependence theory is discussed.The second chapter mainly discusses the change of universities'ecological environment and the rise of the entrepreneurial university. This chapter combed the rise of the entrepreneurial university's history, from the perspective of resource dependence, by making a systematic analysis of the rise of the entrepreneurial university environment. In this chapter, the coming of knowledge economy, the requirements of security on national development innovation system, together with the federal government's liberal economic policy, making drastic cuts in public funding of American universities, the security system in the United States, are discussed as key environmental elements in the development of entrepreneurial universities.The third chapter focuses on the entrepreneurial universities' positive action faced with resources shortage of environment. First, the universities strive for more research funding through cooperation with enterprises to alleviate the crisis of federal funding. In addition, the university established various research centers to realize industrialization and mercerization of academic achievements. The universities also encourage teachers to step into market, to develop entrepreneurship education. Some other measures entrepreneurial universities are reflected as well in the face of environmental change.The fourth chapter analyzes the transformation of entrepreneurial universities through exchanging resource with the environment. First, the transition of function of the university, second, adjustment of internal organization facing to resource dependence, including the change of respects such as organization management and management mode. Finally, the basic constituent elements in the entrepreneurial universities have changed, the universities'entrepreneurship produced profound influence in teachers and the students as well as the pattern of knowledge output.The conclusion part summarizes the full content and provides several important conclusions by studying the development of entrepreneurial university pattern. Research shows that in the face of environmental turbulence and shortage of resources the entrepreneurial university can realize its stable development by actively interacting with the outside world, thus setting up the confidence and examples for other universities facing to the same dilemma.
