High school education is the key period for students to form individuality and develop independently,which plays a significant role in improving the overall national quality and cultivating innovative talents.An unprecedented opportunity was created for the development of high school education as Fifth Plenary Session of 18th CPC Central Committee put forward the development target,that is,to popularize quality high school education.But how to improve high school education to satisfy the need to cultivate creative talents is still a pressing problem faced by the current development of high school education.Among all the research discussions about the quality of high school education,the adjustment of macro policy and the implementation of top-down reform actions are undoubtedly the core focus.At the current phase,the development of students'"key competence" has become the basic concept for the new round reform of high school education,which shall drive high school education to change its value appeal from comprehensively educating to achieve high scores to comprehensively education to achieve high-quality talents.In this way,student development is an inevitable topic in discussing how to improve high school education quality.Besides,student culture is a closely related subject of this topic.Therefore,this research shall explore the way to improve high school education quality from the aspect of student culture to promote the high school education to achieve the integration between intrinsic value and instrumental value.The research stands in the perspective of high school students.Taking resistance theory as the theoretical support and a deep understanding of the current high school students' life as the basis,the full text explores how high school students resist external control,develop and preserve their own culture under the background of the exam-oriented education system in China,and what significant roles these unique cultural genes have played in high schools and students.Therefore,the main assumptions of the research cover four parts:1.Students are active individuals with independent thoughts and personalities,allowing them to develop their own special culture.2.What is being resisted by students is not "heterodoxy",and what is really resisted reflects the awakening of students' corpus consciousness.3.Student culture is one of the important parts of school culture and has an impact on the improvement of education quality.Based on those assumptions,the following questions are to be answered in this research:1.What is high school student culture and what are the factors that influence such kind of culture?2.What are the values of high school student culture?3.How is the current high school student culture developing and what are the obstacles?4.How can high school student develop to cope with the need of "key competence"?Therefore,an in-depth study covering students' study,social life and leisure is conducted in the research by taking Q high school as the object and critical ethnography as the approach.The main conclusion and opinions are:1.High school student culture features unique connotations and value appeal.It includes students' life style,life attitude and spiritual creation,with the spiritual ideal being the development of individuality and agency.The value is reflected in the following five aspects:? high school student culture tends to influence the individuals' autognosis and how they build their relations with the group;? it can reflect teachers' view of teaching and students,which is an important factor that influences the development of teachers' profession;? it is not only a core component of school culture but also a core topic in improving the quality of running the school and in constructing a school-based assessment system;? it helps in forming a virtuous circle of parent-child relationship,building a bridge between the family and school for cooperation;? it is an important driving factor in promoting social creativity,forming teenager's consuming market and influencing the social changes.2.High school student culture in China forms and develops in the process of resistance and creation.According to researches,it mainly infiltrates in study,social life and leisure which form in the process of resisting the external control with the real condition reflected in the following aspects:? Students' learning agency is hard to motivate because they always learn under strict control and surveillance.However,to avoid punishment,they will change the way of resistance from an open manner to a hidden one,which is especially reflected in their resistance to the curriculum and teaching materials of a subject.On the one hand,they accept that teachers' cramming and repetitive training,and on the other hand,they will do what they really like after classes;? The culture of dividing students and forming classes has significantly limited the depth and range of students' social life,so their relationship with teachers and classmates and interactions in classes are major object of resistance.Contrarily,school activities such as clubs have become a platform to create student social culture.These hidden curriculum becomes important factors in developing student culture;?Under the background of exam-oriented system,high school students' leisure life are boring and tedious.Students will resist various systems and create their own leisure life by building snack management,using internet and enjoying extra-curricular activities.3.High school student culture in China reflects the awakening of students'corpus consciousness.First,in study,they desire to take responsibilities for their own study so as to explore the meaning and value of learning;Second,in social life,they expect more carriers and platforms where they can build their relationship with others by giving full play to their right of choice and autonomous right;thirdly,in leisure time,they want freedom very much and are willing to take the responsibility for the cost of such freedom.Thus,a scenario should be created for high school student where student is the center of study,club is the center of social life and experience is the center of leisure.The above conclusions are valuable to a certain extent to know the basic current condition of high school student culture in China and provide practical materials for the new round reform in high school education curriculum and teaching.And also,the last part of the research discusses what the condition of the high school student culture should be and puts forward some strategies,including reconstructing the value orientation of high school education,building high school student culture community,transforming the roles of teachers and reconstructing the "class" culture,in order to drive the development of high school student culture.
