ICT(Information Communications Technology) industry is a technology-intensive industry. The introduction of new technology exerts great impact on traditional telecom operators while it promotes the industry development. At the beginning of twentieth Century, facing furious diversion of Internet business and much more intense competition among ICT industry, major telecom operators proposed the transformation strategy.By basing on the domestic and foreign literature summary and using mathematical model and empirical data, the dissertation delves into operators' transformation strategy and tactics under the impaction of Internet companies. This dissertation focuses on solving three problems:(1) How Internet companies leap forward and infringe on the business of traditional telecom operators? (2) In the condition that the Internet companies have achieved catch-up, where shall the traditional telecom operators go? (3) How could the traditional telecom operators get rid of the rigidities and implement their transformation strategy? The dissertation combines theory analysis with empirical studies to solve above questions. The full text is divided into seven chapters, as follows:Chapter 1: Introduction. It introduces the development of the mobile Internet and its influence on the traditional telecom operators, meanwhile puts forward the necessity of the transformation of traditional telecom operators, and then demonstrates the main content, research methods, overall framework, main innovation points and meanings of this dissertation.Chapter 2: Literature reviews. Four theories, such as innovation theory, innovation diffusion theory, scale economy theory, enterprise organization theory are involved in the role evolution path model of disruptive innovation. In this chapter, the four theories are expounded respectively.Chapter 3: The transformation direction and efficiency of traditional telecom operators. In this chapter, by analyzing the innovation diffusion mechanism, we can draw a conclusion that the Internet companies surpass traditional telecom operators is inevitable because of telecom operators' organization rigidity. By using Stackelberg game model, it is concluded that traditional telecom operators' entrance to the Internet services will lose the total efficiency when Internet companies grow up.Meanwhile, core rigidity and network effect will hamper the success of telecom operators' entrance to Internet services. The professional network operation will be the optimal path for traditional telecom operators'transformation.Chapter 4: Design the model of network capacity for mobile Internet Requirements. This chapter summarizes the mobile Internet Cos' main requirements of network capacity, and put forward the principle of"simple, flat, open, intensive, efficient, and collaborative" in the light of the existing problems in the network. Based on the five orthogonal dimensions, the network capability requirements model is designed. Then test the completeness and feasibility of the model by demonstrating the network products of traditional telecom operators.Chapter 5: Network intensive operation strategy. Network should take intensive operation mode to fit for Internet strategies' configuration.Through scale economy theory and Cobb-Douglas production function, this chapter concludes that professional network operation has scale economies effect. Meanwhile this chapter puts forward compensation strategy for resources transformation. This method can effectively solve the intensive operation problems.Chapter 6: Research on organization guarantee for network intensive operation. This chapter establishes the relation model of system factors, transformation ability and transformation performance. Through structural equation modeling and survey data, the assumptions in the model have been tested. Based on the important factors which have been tested in the empirical practice, the dissertation puts forward proposals to enhance the traditional telecom operators' transformation performances.Chapter 7: Conclusion. This chapter concludes the main contents and points out the deficiencies in this dissertation, and then puts forward the main directions for further studies.Internet companies' disruptive innovation to traditional telecom operators is a process of technological innovation diffusion. In this process, Internet companies enter the market by disruptive innovation paradigm in which new market and the low price strategy are adopted.Internet companies ultimately leapfrog traditional telecom operators by eroding their traditional business ceaselessly. Although traditional telecom operators are not deaf or blind to the innovation technologies, due to their core rigidity and path dependence, they still stay in the traditional business which is a dominant strategy at the beginning. Finally, traditional telecom operators, which are the dominant enterprise under the original technology paradigm, transform into the new enterprises under the innovation technology paradigm. The enterprises' role exchange, just as the growth and decline of yin and Yang in Tai Chi diagram, reflects the philosophical viewpoint that change is eternal.Disruptive innovation theory studies focus much more on new enterprises than incumbent enterprises. While as basic, pillar and leading industry of the national economy, the traditional telecom operators have great practical significance to the overall economy development. The dissertation focuses on the path and mechanism of traditional telecom operators' transformation. The contribution and innovation mainly show in the following three aspects:1. Traditional telecom operators' transformation does more concern of solving specific problems than theoretical characterization and analysis of transformation mechanism. Meanwhile, the transformation practices are more qualitative and less quantitative. From ICT industry perspective,by using the empirical case and theoretical tools, such as game model, decision tree model, Stackelberg game model, and etc. the dissertation makes a thorough and systematical analysis of the traditional telecom operators' dilemma as well as their transformation's necessities and direction. The dissertation draws a conclusion that Internet companies'leapfrog to traditional telecom operators is inevitable. Meanwhile, the dissertation does a specific study of transformation motivation of traditional telecom operators.2. Through five orthogonal dimensions, the dissertation designs network capacity demand model which has three characters as follow: (1)It is based on market demand, rather than pure technologies; (2) It emphasizes on overall design rather than local planning. Meanwhile, it gives more concerns on both the integration of network and IT and intensive operational capacities; (3)Network ability should be user-experience-oriented and take the collaboration of cloud, pipe and the terminal into account to achieve optimal configuration efficiency. A large but weak network does not be expected.3. The dissertation puts forward an operational model for intensive network. Network should take intensive operation mode to cater to the unbounded business needs of Internet services. Localized operation and organization model which derives from circuit times is bound to an obstacle to network operations in mobile Internet era. However, intensive operation of network should take into account the existing organization architecture to achieve a smooth convergence. This dissertation puts forward compensation strategy as well as important factors which are certified through structural equation modeling and survey data analysis to optimize the enterprise organization system. The telecom operators' transformation road will be resistance and long. From the microcosmic perspective, the research results can provide a reference for telecom operators. From the perspective of the industry, telecom operators' transformation is also a kind of reconstruction in industry value chain. The results can also provide a reference for the industry regulatory department to optimized resource allocation efficiency. From a macroeconomic perspective, enterprise transformation's direction and performance will be also related to the national network economy which has been mentioned in 13th Five-Year national planning, so the results of the dissertation has certain practical significance.
