Educational governance system and modern governance capability are the important components of the governance of the country,which definitely advance the reform of the subject,content and mode of the university governance.Students,the most basic part for the existence and development of universities,are the important force for the internal governance of universities.Students' participation in the internal governance of universities is not only the basic contents of it,but also the necessity for the scientific and democratic system of the internal governance of universities.However,we don't have proper understanding and enough practice of students' participation in the internal governance of universities in China.For example:uncertain right of the students' participation in the internal governance of universities;alienation of the participation rights for the students and student organizations;imperfect system to protect the students' rights and imperfect relief system;insufficient support for the system of the students' participation in the internal governance of universities etc.Traditional system of university governance cannot satisfy the increasing students' demands of participation.The development of the modern university governance in China has to take the students' participation in consideration to protect their rights and ensure the proper participation in the internal governance of universities.From the Stakeholder theory,Governance theory and Humanistic theory,we try to establish the theoretical model for the students' participation in internal governance of universities.Taking the students' power and rights into consideration,we analyze the reasons,possibility and strategy of the students' participation in internal governance of universities.The research makes a comprehensive study about the roles and functions of government,universities and students in protecting the rights of the students' participation in internal governance of universities historically and realistically,theoretically and practically,macroscopically and microscopically,domestically and internationally.The research probes into the real situation and problems of the students' participation in internal governance of universities,and finally come up with the answers to the questions: Why it is necessary for the students participate in the internal governance of universities? For what reason? And how?Firstly,after the analysis of the related literature,we found that there is great common view and difference about the students' participation in the internal governance of universities.We have got a lot reference and inspiration from different perspective and vision.We realize that there are some problems: the insufficient systematic research about the students' participation in the internal governance of universities;the inadequate consideration taking into the local strategy;weak innovativeness etc.On the basis of this and the Stakeholder theory,Governance theory and Humanistic theory,we got evidence for the students' major role in the internal governance of universities,provides the logical framework of the students' participation in the internal governance of universities.We agree on the basic position:the students' participation in the internal governance of universities is not only reasonable and legal,but also necessary and pressing,which is compatible with the purpose of our education: impart knowledge and educate people.Secondly,after historic and comparative research about the origin,the historical evolution and contemporary development of the students' participation in the internal governance of universities,we got the evidence for the trend and features of that in European and American countries.The students' participation in the internal governance of European and American universities has got important system guarantee and scientific participation pattern,which provide great experience and inspiration for us.Then we make a contrast about the students' participation in internal governance of Chinese universities and foreign universities in different historical periods,and get experiences for the students' participation in internal governance in modern universities.Thirdly,the research conducts empirical analysis about the understanding,content,methods,and value of the students' participation in the internal governance of universities.After the questionnaire and semi-structures interview of the related personnel(administrative staff,teachers and students)in universities,we probe into the problems of the students' participation in the internal governance of China's universities: hidden but not obvious position of the students' participation in the internal governance of universities in China;insufficient system guarantee;alienation of the students' power;unclear defined duties and responsibilities;lagging mechanism construction etc.We try to establish the model of concepts,system and mechanism for the students' participation in the internal governance of China's universities.Finally,the research has presented the strategy of students' participation in internal governance of universities in China.We call for the promotion and realization of the students' participation in internal governance of universities in China,and the change in the concept of the governance of universities.Then it is necessary to provide systematic guarantee for the students' participation in internal governance of universities on the basis of internal self-government of universities.We recommend a moderate and proper mechanism for the students' participation in internal governance of universities in China,which involves hierarchical and classified participation,incentive and guarantee system.
