History Teaching was founded in January 1951.It was one of the earliest historical professional publications after the founding of The People's Republic of China.By December 2010,a total of 613 issues had been published.History Teaching had been always adhering to a scientific,rigorous and practical style of publishing with the guidance of ideological,fundamental and academic nature.Since its inception,the magazine has made outstanding contributions to the prosperity of national history teaching and historical research,to the establishment of the theory and practice system of history education,to the promotion of the in-depth development of history education teaching reform,and to the promotion of international academic research exchanges.At present,the research on History Teaching has remained at a sporadic and local stage,and no one has conducted a systematic and in-depth study on History Teaching as a whole.In order to enrich the research content of middle school history teaching,broaden the research field of middle school history teaching,and strengthen the dialectical unity between history teaching,history textbook and historical research,the author has made an integrated research its inception of development of History Teaching.History teaching was established under the following three backgrounds: First of all,in he early days of New China,under the guidance of the national cultural and educational policy,several historians in Beijing and Tianjin were keenly aware of the urgent need of history teachers for historical materialism,and they believed that it was of historical necessity to establish a publication for history teachers to read.Secondly,the mentality of intellectuals makes it possible.Thirdly,The application of History Teaching was approved by Tianjin military and political committee,and was supported by Huang Songling,minister of culture and education of Tianjin military commission.Last but not least,it was also inseparable from the joint efforts of Li Guangbi,Fu Shangwen and Yang Shengmao.It was under such conditions that History teaching came into being,and soon embarked on a sound track of development,as abanner in the field of middle school history teaching magazine.The readers of history teaching were mainly middle school history teachers,teachers and students of history department of normal university,history teaching and research workers,and instructors and researchers.According to incomplete statistics,5901 authors have published 10546 works in History Teaching.The author group of History Teaching was mainly concentrated in the Beijing-Tianjin area,and the contribution source was concentrated from the Historical Editing Room of the People's Education Press,the history college of Nankai university,and the editorial department of History Teaching.Its organizational structure can be analyzed in the following four periods:January 1951 to August 1954,the earliest period of the publication.September1954 to 1959,the period of Tianjin People's Publishing House.1959-1966,and1979-1985,the period of Tianjin Education Bureau.1986 to 2010,the period of Tianjin Press and Publication Bureau.From January 1951 to June 1966,History Teaching experienced a period of tortuous development,with its characteristics gradually coming into being.This period can be divided into three stages: starting the journal,government transformation and tortuous development.During the stage of starting the journal,the intellectuals kept up with the political situation,while inherited the “Teaching” and “Learning” of the Republic of China.After the reform of the government,Tianjin People's Publishing House set up its third editorial office,responsible for editing History Teaching.In this stage,its columns such as “Masters' Small Works”and “Celebrity Counselings” have been highly regarded upto these days.From 1959 to June 1966,History Teaching went through tortuous development.Because of the continuous political movement,the History Teaching was forced to stop its publication after the beginning of Cultural Revolution.From January 1979 to March 1990,History Teaching slowly restored its publication and rebuilt its characteristics.During 1979 to 1985,the field of teaching and historiography was rectified,and the teaching and academic research of history in secondary schools were gradually restored,and at this time,History Teaching restoredits publication.From 1986 to March 1990,History Teaching rebuilt its characteristics.However,its academic research articles went out of line with history teaching in middle school,which directly affected the quality of its publication.From April 1991 to March 2001,History Teaching continued to lay particular stress on teaching and has experienced an academic decline.In the early period,the journal studied the test measurement and evaluation focusing on ability as a core,and explored the ways of training the thinking ability of the history subject in the middle school from the theory and practice,in order to guide the history teaching in the middle schools.In the later period,the quality of academic papers continued to decline due to the out-of-control management of the magazines and a lot of confusion in editing.Under the double impact of the rise of the same kind of publications and the rapid development of the Internet,History Teaching has gradually lost its competitive advantage.During March 2001 to December 2010,History Teaching went through a smooth transition and a golden period of development.This period can be divided into three stages: smooth transition,gold development and continued development after the division.From March 2001 to January 2002,there was a smooth transition in the development of History Teaching,which had a medial publication.The period from February 2002 to December 2006 was the golden stage of this Journal.The editorial department of History Teaching organizes discussions on the unified curriculum standards and the multiple textbooks,so as to focus the audience on the platform of History Teaching.In order to lead the history teaching in middle schools,History Teaching published many cases of research study and lectures essays,which were closely related to the history teaching in middle school.And the journal also published interviews with young and middle-aged experts,in order to make academic research and middle school history teaching combine with each other.After January2007,History Teaching was divide into two editions: the middle school edition and the college edition,which promoted its sustainable development.History Teaching has played an important role in history teaching in middle school.The author summarized the development history of history teaching Since itsinception,and puts forward the basic strategies for its development.The Journal should select a good leader,and insist on editorial department responsibility system under editorial committee.History Teaching should set up relatively fixed columns,and always serve for the secondary schools' history teaching.The teaching article should grasp the teaching reform model,meanwhile the academic paper should fix an accurate position,because if its articles were far away from the history teaching of the middle school,no matter how famous the authors were,the articles could hardly provoke positive response from the readers.History Teaching should properly cultivate its author and reader groups,and be kind to middle school history teachers.History Teaching should pay great effort of cultivating Doctors of history teaching methods,Master students researching history courses and teaching theory,and undergraduate students of history department.These are all the magic weapons of History Teaching aiming at an invincible position.
