Abstract/Summary:
The study investigated the impact of age, gender and job level on job satisfaction among public sector employees in Freeport, The Bahamas, based on Herzberg's motivation-hygiene theory. This well-known management theory provided the framework to extend research in the context of a small island nation lacking published information on the current levels of job satisfaction in the public sector. Data were collected from 311 participants by use of the Abridged Job Descriptive Index and the Abridged Job in General. Findings determined that no significant differences could be attributed to the selected demographics.
