Abstract/Summary:
In the United States and countries throughout the globe, young people between the ages of eight and 18 have thoroughly adopted mobile technology into their daily lives and are effectively using mobile technology to engage in informal learning. However, without the prompting and acceptance of educators, mobile technology is unlikely to be fully integrated into more formal classroom learning. This research gathers teachers' perceptions of mobile learning in the elementary and secondary classrooms in order for mobile learning to be fully and successfully integrated into classrooms. The research design for the study was a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional survey design. The target population for this study was elementary and secondary teachers in selected schools in southern New Jersey. While the majority of teachers had a positive perception of mobile learning, less than half reported more than a moderate amount of usage of mobile technology in classroom teaching.
