A Tyre Building Machine (TBM) is a specialist machine for tire production. There are many different types of TBM due to different types of tires and different procedures of production. Semi-steel radial TBM is one of them that requires higher precision, it combines mechanical, electrical and pneumatic components, highly automated, convenient to operate, high speed building and high product quality, has a high benefit/cost ratio, can produce different type of tire. It is the first choice for a lot of tire manufacturing companies.Although every tire manufacturing company has its own tire production process, they have the same requirements for TBM, namely high quality building, high speed and low cost. So the ideal TBM should be stable, reliable and efficient on raw material in design.This study concentrates on the second stage of tire building. The author analyzed the movement and speed of the back stitcher roller, studied the parameters that affect the tire building process, including the width of building head, rotary speed of building spindle, pressure, duration of pressure, and speed of the back stitcher. Then the author described the main structure and control in the TBM, including the structure of building head and building spindle, three-dimensional dynamic switcher's structure and analyzed its principle. Finally, an introduction of the technology of PLC and AC frequency conversion timing was given.Spindle is a key part of TBM, especially the building spindle of second stage TBM. This building spindle is a long cantilever which can satisfy the building technology of radial tire. It bears complex forces during the process of tire building, so it is necessary to make sure that it has adequate strength and can work properly in a dynamical environment. This paper describes the structural static analysis and dynamic analysis performed on the spindle using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software-ANSYS. According to the FEA, we get the stress-strain of the sleeve, inherent frequency, vibration model and displacement-frequency curve in the action of an external load. We can change and optimize the structure of TBM in future design, base on these FEA results.This thesis analyzed the main influential parameters, mechanical structure and building control during the tire building process of the second build part of a TBM. This work can offer theoretical and practical guidance in any future design of the TBM. The static and dynamic analysis using FEA can enhance the precision and efficiency of design, and can shorten the design cycle, therefore increase the product's market competitiveness.
