Research On The Application Of Bauhaus' S Functionalism In Chinese Interior Design

The interior design in China is the same as the society of China, has seen tremendouschanges. Our country, especially after the reform and opening-up policy, has accelerated thedevelopment of the transformation in traditional rural economy to the modern industrialeconomy, and the process has much in common with German’s a century ago. In the early20th century, after the World War, the economy in German was in decline and it is necessaryto improve its productivity. Besides, after the industrial revolution, the appearance of machinechanged the social production mode, production materials became cheaper and more abundant,mass production dissatisfied people with same forms of mechanical products and they beganto pursue spiritual beauty. At that time, the birth of the Bauhaus had realized the unity oftechnology and art, and came up with the brand new functional view which includes practicalfunction, psychological hint function and standardized aesthetic function. On the basis of thepractical function, it emphasizes the social economic benefits of design. The beauty of art ininterior design has sublimated to the good with socialist thing which serve all people even thewhole society. Therefore, the Bauhaus is the result of social revolution, and the functionalismideology it advocated roots in soil of German, and its value is embodied in dare to breakthrough the tradition and comply with the trend of historical development.In21st century, under the background of economic globalization and the rapiddevelopment of science and technology, the development of interior design in China hadbecame diversified, and had many opportunities and challenges, but also had manyinharmonious factors against the social development. The process has much in common withthe development of the Bauhaus, and then can we take an example and make use of the valueof the functionalism ideology? In another word, under this circumstance, can China create anatheistic form which adapts to the need of social development and manifests the Chinesenational features? This is the key of this paper. The art of interior design should adhere to thebasic state of sustainable development, it should pay attention to the coordination ofmanpower resource and environment resources, and initiate the space environment moreenergy conservation and environmental protection. We need to protect and inherit our national culture in the context of receiving advanced culture from various countries, and then, weinnovate and develop our culture. In the future, the art of interior design will dedicate to thespread of national culture and the development of environment better, and let art in harmonywith the modern culture.Consequently, based on the creation, content and the development ofthe Bauhaus, this paper analyses the features of the times of the development and explores thelaw of development of Chinese interior design.
