Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) has been used in more and more fields of industry. At the same time, the structure of AMB is much more diversely, In designing the AMB, it should not only be considered to meet many kinds of requirement, such as the requirements of strength, rigidity, temperature, dynamical characteristics, but also usually need complex and repeated calculations.Based on the principle of AMB, the dissertation deduces and illustrates the structure design method, the selection of materials, the detailed design process and related design projects of radial and axial AMB after narrating the whole composition of electromotor with AMB. And a new method to design the structure of AMB is provided. With this method, the coupling relations between the structure parameters and electric parameters in the AMB can be decreased, which makes the structure parameters are easy to meet the requirement of electric parameters. Based on the regular design method of AMB, it is easy to bring out the optimum methods to design the AMB.After that, those theories about the regular and optimum designs of AMB have been programmed as practical and efficient software. It can be simplified to design AMB, calculate and query parameters by using this software. So it greatly shortens the period to design a AMB, improve the efficiency and ensure the best structure parameters and the feasibility of AMB.In addition, because the principal axis is the object the AMB supports and the rotor of AMB contact rigidly, etc, the dissertation still discusses the method to design and analyze the principal axis, which help to offer the requirements to AMB and make the final AMB's structures meet much more mechanical performance requirements.
