In demands of modernized electric power system, that made it very important that the collection, management, transmission, exchange and use of information. Digital fault recorder is a device that can automatically trigger and record when faults or disturbance happened in electric power system. The fault information recorded by digital fault recorder is the foundation of analysis the fault of electric power system. It has great meaning for the electric power system running steadily that sharing and publishing in time of fault information of electric power system. On 1990' s, some digital fault recorders produced by internal manufactory provided simple function for transmission information: transmitting fault wave files by dial-up mode using MODEM, so that fault data could be used in a far cry. At that time, communication was poor, primary by carrier wave mode. It is known to all that the shortage of carrier wave mode: great disturbance in channel make it difficult to transmit fault data. It is hard to find a better solution to solve this problem under the limitation of conditions at that time.The rapid progress of computer technology and communication technology makes it possible to construct a "Fault Information Management System" . Nowadays, optical fiber net is used more and more widely in electric power system, optical fiber terminal basically reaches to station, communication is improved. Local Ethernet is used widely so that the data transmission channel bandwidth is ensured. The structure of software system change from C/S to B/S, show the direction of construction for new Management System. Database technology and Web technology merged together provide a new way for data storage and publishing, the publishing mode base on Web is strongly support. All ofthese advantageous conditions form a good base for construction for a new type "Fault Information Management System" .After investigating widely the existing papers on Fault Information Management System, On the basis of collecting, regulating and analyzing finances, this paper discussed the development of electric power Fault Information Management System and fault information Publishing via Web Pages. Base on the reliable hardware and software platform, "Fault Information Management System base on Web" fully use the existing communication network, publish fault information via Web mode, obtain a good practical effect. In this paper, the process of development and characteristic of Fault Information Management System is described in detail, apart in fields of hardware and software, the solution of base on Web is also introduced, and the issue of how to construct the Web pages is deeply discussed. This research result wealthily shows computer technology, communication technology, network technology as well as their application in automation of electric power system.
