The Research On The Evaluation System Of Controller's Workload And Sector Capacity

According with the airspace flow increasing, workload of the air traffic controllers is also rising, and has become one of the most important factors which restrict the sector capacity. The workload of air traffic controllers and capacity evaluation based on it are deeply analyzed from the aspects of theory and practice. The development of air transportation in China is firstly introduced, then the current situation of study on workload and capacity evaluation are construed. After that, the factors impact the workload of ATCs and its classification are discussed, then the new model of evaluation based on it is established, and the specific method of evaluating the workload of ATCs is implemented. After this, based on the developed model associated with the characteristics of Shanghai airspace 01 sector, according to the workload evaluation modal, using regression method, the idiographic capacity evaluation method of sector is introduced and is validated by an instance, the feasibility and the restricts were also analyzed. In addition the computer applications in the workload evaluation system are introduced, the workload of 01 sector of Shanghai airspace was evaluated by this system and the result and the display were showed. Finally, the further work on the research of workload of air traffic controllers and capacity evaluation are pointed out.
