The aerial ropeway for passenger transports can be used in complex landforms and through a valley or a barrier in the ground. With the developing of the tourism in China, the aerial ropeway has been used widely in the transport trade and tourism or other industries of China. The safety of the aerial ropeway is very important. As an important part of the aerial ropeway, the tower is crucial to the safety. So it is very important that the strength, rigidity and stability is exact or not.The traditional structural design can only get the data of part stress and displacement. But the distribution of the stress and strain can't be described concretely when the load on the whole tower. With the developing of the tower, more complicated and more large-sized, new model structure of the tower is used. There is great difference between the result and the actual load if use traditional method. And it will take more time and more energy. Because of some hypothesis are adopted.According to the state, the finite element method (FEM), which has been used in other industries widely, is used in the design of the tower in this paper. Analysis of the stress, strain and modal of the tower, which is a three-pillar tower that been adopted in China firstly, by the finite element analysis software—ANSYS and the results are showed. This study is composed of the following parts: (1) The three-pillar tower is adopted. The model of the tower is build based on drawing paper. (2) The strength analysis of the tower. And the static analysis of the tower is showed by ANSYS. (3) The dynamic analysis of the tower is showed by ANSYS. And the natural frequency and the mode of the tower in No.1 modal to No.10 modal are showed. (4) The results are analyzed and some advices are adopted for the improvement.In this study, a more convenient way for designing the tower is adopted that can show the distribution of the stress and strain when the load on the whole tower. Check analysis about the tower adopt the finite element method reduces the cost of design and increases the efficiency of design. So FEM is deserve extending in designing the tower. Through this study, the three-pillar tower meets the request in the stress and the strain. So the structure of the tower is rational and can ensure that the safety of the tower.
