This thesis attempts to expound the concept of pubic buildings in residential districts and explore the underpinnings, principles, and basic layouts of their planning. The emphasis is laid upon the general principles of their morphological design and the concrete design methods derived from various case studies. Meanwhile, through a discussion of the historical evolvement of the subject matter and an analysis of the current problems it is faced with, the thesis predicts its trend of future development, taking into account the natural course of social progress. Through much elaboration and analysis, the central problem of how to reasonably deploy and properly design public buildings in a residential environment to make them an organic whole is adequately addressed. The ultimate goal is to create a distinctive identity of the district and fostering a feeling of belongingness to gratify the residents' higher needs.This thesis is helpful in promoting an awareness of the importance of the subject matter among related personnel. Moreover, it provides corresponding principles and concrete methods for the design of public buildings in residential districts.
