As an important technology of Non-Destructive Testing, Ultrasonic Flaw Detection has been used widely in some areas, such as Defense industry, Machine manufacture and so on. But, existing Portable Ultrasonic Flaw Detection systems are based on the Monolithic integrated circuit or DSP. The software designs of these systems are very complex, schemes'realization and transplants are also difficult. Therefore, the promotion and maintenance of these systems are inconvenient. Recently, applications of embedded system are widespread in many domains day by day. And the embedded system has widely application prospect in the area of Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Testing.According to demands of performance, author has designed a new Portable Ultrasonic Flaw Detection system by the scheme, which combines ARM+FPGA hardware framework with Embeddable Linux operation system. For solving the problem of the high-speed data's processing, the scheme using the Samsung's embedded processor -S3C2410X and the Xilinx's FPGA XC3S250E as the new system's hardware platform. The author has transplanted Embeddable Linux to this platform, and developed related device drivers of hardware which bases on Embeddable Linux. And the scheme also implements the Portable Ultrasonic Flaw Detection system's Graphical User Interface using the software development kit for the high-performance embedded GUI system– Qt/Embedded.Through the result of the actual test, it can be proved that this scheme implements the Portable Ultrasonic Flaw Detection system's key functions, such as high-speed data acquisition, non-equally data condensation and real-time processing and so on. This scheme provides a feasible and high-performance solution for the future research on the Portable Ultrasonic Flaw Detector, and it has high practical application value to other applications base on embedded system technology.
