With the implement of"village to village"project and the extension of low-volume roads construction scale, many problem, lots of which is about structure design, shows up in the service condition. Therefore, studying the design method of low-volume roads is pressing.This paper studied home and abroad design method of low-volume roads and analyzed the present pavement design specifications. The design method of the present pavement design specifications is thought to be adopt in the design of low-volume roads, with further study about design index and parameter, which mainly on conversion of axle load,loading stress of concrete board,design control objectives and traffic classification.According to the study of relations between different axle load and deflection,tension stress of pavement courses, the conversion formula of axle load suitable for low-volume roads is offered. Meanwhile the formula of loading stress suitable for cement concrete pavement of low-volume roads is offered. According to the fatigue performance of material, the critical load of pavement design of low-volume roads is offered. Considering that the structure of low-volume is weakness and axle load of loaded car running on low-volume roads is great, the design index by the purpose of controlling the destroy of maximum is added to the design of cement concrete pavement and semi-rigid bituminous pavement. According to the analysis of traffic volume and axle load survey, traffic classification of low-volume is offered. According to the survey of low-volume roads typical structure and research conclusion of this paper, typical structures of pavement for low-volume roads is offered.This paper perfects the research of pavement design method of low-volume roads further, and will help the low-volume roads building of our country develop faster.
