| An experiment was conducted to study the effects of the traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation on the growth performance, digestive enzyme activities, cell immunity, intestinal mucosa immunity of piglets, in order to explore the effects of different dosages of the traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation on growth-promoting and its mechanism of weanling piglets. Eighty"Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshine"crossbred piglets were chosen from eight litters and randomly divided into four groups with 20 piglets each group by weight and sex, and fed with basal diet, basal diet plus artificial milk, basal diet plus 0.25% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation and basal diet plus 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation, respectively. The trial was conducted for 21 d. All of the piglets were weaned at 21 days-old and weighed with empty stomach at 14, 21, 28 and 35 days-old, remaining amount of feed and food consumption of each stage were record in order to calculate ADG, ADFI and the ratio of feed to gain, and blood samples in 10 piglets from each group were taken via cava anterior for measuring the levels of IgA, IgM and IgG. 6 piglets from each group were slaughtered after the experiment, four sections of intestine from proximal duodenum, 1/4 proximal jejunum, 1/4 distal jejunum and mid-ileum were selected and stored in 10% formalin fixative immediately for determining the quantity of small intestinal lymphocytes and goblet cells. Meanwhile, the duodenum, proximal jejunum, distal jejunum and ileum were taken for detecting the activities of amylase, trypsin and lipase. The results were as follows:1. The traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation could improve the growth performance of weanling piglets significantly.Compared with piglets fed with basal diet, AW of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly on d 28 and 35. AW and ADFI of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly and the ratio of feed to gain decreased significantly on d 21 to 28.2. The traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation could improve the digestive enzyme activities of weanling piglets significantly.Compared with piglets fed with basal diet and basal diet plus artificial milk, the activities of lipase , amylase, and protease in duodenum , jejunum , ileum of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly. There had no significant difference between the piglets fed with basal diet and fed with basal diet plus artificial milk.3. The traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly the IgM, IgA and IgG levels of weanling pigletsCompared with piglets fed with basal diet, the levels of IgG in piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly on d 21 and 28, the levels of IgA increased significantly on d 28, the levels of IgA and IgM in piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly on d 35. During the whole experimental period, the levels of IgG, IgA and IgM in piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation were higher than those of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation, but there had no significant difference between them.4. The traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly the quantities of intraepithelial lymphocytes of weanling pigletsThe numbers of intraepithelial lymphocytes in piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation were significantly higher than those in piglets fed with basal diet and fed with basal diet plus artificial milk on d 35.5. The traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly the quantities of the goblet cells of weanling pigletsCompared with piglets fed with basal diet and fed with basal diet plus artificial milk, the numbers of the goblet cells in piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly on d 35. Compared with piglets fed with basal diet, the numbers of the goblet cells in distal jejunum of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation did not increase significantly, while the numbers of the goblet cells in other three intestinal parts of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation increased significantly. The numbers of the goblet cells in duodenum, proximal jejunum and distal jejunum of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation were higher than those of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation.6. The traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation could improve intestinal mucosa epithelial morphous of weanling pigletsThe intestinal villus height of piglets fed with basal diet plus 0.25% and 0.5% traditional Chinese medicine compound preparation was significantly higher than that of piglets fed with basal diet and fed with basal diet plus artificial milk on 35, while the crypts depth was significantly lower. |
