Purpose: To research the preventive effect and explore themechanism of scalp acupuncture on cerebral infarction. Metkods:The cerebraI infarction model was established by occluding middlecerebral artery (MCA). Scalp acupuncture was taken before cerebralinfarction. Observed the effect on the number of neuron dischargein local region and adjacent region as well as the electric activity ofpain excitable neuron (PEN) and pain inhibitory neuron(PIN) from2 hours to 6 hours after infarction and the effect on morphology.ResuIts: The neuron discharge of rats is inhibited apparently afterinfarction. It appears that the number of neuron discharge is reducedand the excitability of PEN and the inhibitory of PIN are weakened.Preventive scalp acupuncture can not only reduce the extent ofinhibited neuron but also increase the number of neuron dischargeand improve the excitability of PEN and the inhibitory of PIN.Conclusion: Preventive scalp acupuncture can reduce the ischemicinjury of rats after cerebral infarction,it has the preventive effect onfunction of neuron and morphology.
