Background and objective: There are a lot of Studies on relationship of Surface Adhesion Molecule and Membrane Metalloproteinase with cancer cell in recent years, however studies on their related OPN are still few. The present study intends to investigate the level of OPN,CD44v6 and MMP-2 expression in non small cell lung cancer , so as to clearly understand their role in the growth, invasiveness and metastasis of non small cell lung cancer , their interrelationship and clinical significance.Method: immunohistochemical method was used to detect OPN,CD44v6 and MMP-2 from 69 specimen obtained following operation of non small cell lung cancer patient. Results: expression frequency of OPN,CD44v6 and MMP-2 had close relationship with the patients TNM period and lymph nodes metastases (p<0.01), the positive expression of OPN,CD44v6 and MMP-2 in Squamous cell carcinoma was more than in Adenocarcinoma(P < 0.05), no marked relationship existed with the degree of tumor cell differentiation (p>0.05), the expression of OPN showed direct correlation to CD44v6 and MMP-2 expressions, and the expression of CD44v6 had no correlation to MMP-2 expressions. Conclusion: OPN,CD44v6 and MMP-2 expression is related to the kind, development and lymph node metastases of non-small cell lung cancer. They could be used as clinical indicators to predict the progress and metastatic potential for non-small cell lung cancer.
