Objective The aim of this study is to investigate the levels of OPN, CD44v6 and MMP-2 in epithelial tumor of ovary , and to clearly understand their roles in tumorigenesis, development and clinicopathologic characteristics of epithelial tumor of ovary, to supply some theory accordance for its diagnosis and to provide new path way for nonoperration targeted therapy .Methods OPN, CD44v6 and MMP-2 are detected in 124 patients with epithelial tumor of ovary by immunohistochemical method, including innocence tissue 28 instance, borderline malignant tissue32 instance , ovarian cancer64 instance ,normal ovary8 instance, analysis their associativity and expression. Results (1) OPN expression is low in normal ovarian tissue .The expression of OPN in ovarian cancer is significantly elevated than in innocence group and borderline malignant group (P<0.05) .There is no significant difference between innocence group and borderline malignant group(P>0.05) . (2) There is no CD44V6 expression in normal ovary group . The CD44V6 expression in ovarian cancer is significantly elevated than in innocence group and borderline malignant group (P<0.001) .There is no significant difference between innocence group and borderline malignant group(P>0.05). (3 ) There is no MMP-2 expression in normal ovary group . The MMP2 expression in ovarian cancer and in borderline malignant group are superer than in innocence group (P<0.05) .There is no significant difference between borderline malignant group and ovarian cancer group (P>0.05) . (4) Expression rate of OPN is significantly related to cell differentiation, clinical stages and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), but not to histological classification (P>0.05). The expression rate of CD44V6 is significantly related to histological classification, clinical stages and lymph node metastasis (P<0.05), but not to cell differentiation (P>0.05). The expression rate of MMP-2 is significantly related to clinical stages(P<0.05), but not to histological classification, cell differentiation and lymph node metastasis (P>0.05). (5) There are apositive concordance between OPN and CD44v6 expression (P<0.001), as well as between OPN andMMP-2expression (P<0.001). There is concordance between CD44v6 and MMP-2 expression. Conclusion (1) There is different expression about OPN in both innocent ovary tumor and ovarian cancer. It indicates that OPN participates cellular proliferation not only in ovarian cancer but also in innocent ovary tumor (2)OPN,CD44v6 and MMP-2 expressions are strengthing With the development of malignancy in ovarian tumor. The ovarian tumor ,in which OPN accompaned CD44v6and MMP-2 expresses positively may be malignant. They may be an important marker and an estimating index for ovarian cancer. (3) OPN,CD44v6 and MMP-2 expression are related to the histology, classification , cell differentiation , clinical stages and lymph node metastasis of epithelial ovarian neoplasms . They might be used as clinical indicators to predict the progress and metastatic potential for epithelial tumor of ovary . (4) OPN, CD44v6 and MMP-2 may simultaneously expressed in ovarian cancer. Their expressions in ovarian cancer are concordant. They may commonly participate development invasion and metastasis in ovarian cancer. But the specific mechanism encouraging tumorigenesis is expecting further study .
