Objective To investigate the expression and the relationship between pituitary tumor transforming gene(PTTG)and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) in differentiated thyroid carcinom(aDTC),as well as the relationship of their expression with clinicpathological indexes and prognosis in DTC.Methods The PTTG and bFGF expression were detected by immunohistochemistry in 57 DTCs (43 cases of papillary and 14 cases of follicular),21cases of adenomas and 14 normal thyroid tissues that had been fixed in formalin and embedded in paraffin. Results The positive expression rate of PTTG and bFGF was 83.72% and 71.42% respectively in DTC,whose positive expression rate and expression grade were detected significantly higher than that in benign lesions and normal tissues(P<0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between high expressions of PTTG and VEGF proteins in DTC;there was a positive correlation between the staining score of PTTG and the prognosis score of DTC(r =0.306,P<0.05).Conclusion PTTG or bFGF is highly related to the biological behavior and prognosis of DTC. Associated detection of PTTG and bFGF may help to judge the malignant degree and prognosis of DTC.
