Objective:To study the expressions of pituitary tumor-transforming gene(PTTG) and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF) proteins and their relationship with MVD in laryngeal carcinoma. Methods:Expressions of PTTG and bFGF were detected by immunohistochemistry Envision 2 steps method in 57 cases of laryngeal carcinoma, and compared with that in 26 cases of para-carcinoma tissue and 9 cases of normal tissue.MVD in laryngeal carcinoma was evaluated by immunohistochemical staining with antibody CD34.Results:1.In the laryngeal carcinoma, the positive rates of PTTG and bFGF were 84.2%and 78.9%respectively,which were significantly higher than those in the para-carcinoma tissue and normal tissue(P<0.05).2.The expression of PTTG was associated with histological differentiation and clinical stages(P<0.05),and significantly associated with lymph node metastasis(P<0.05),but not associated with age, gender and primary lesion(P>0.05).3.The expression of bFGF was significantly associated with histological differentiation and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05),but not associated with age, gender, clinical stages and primary lesion(P>0.05).4.There was a significantly correlation between the expression of PTTG and bFGF(P<0.05).5.The value of MVD in the laryngeal carcinoma was significantly higher than that in the para-carcinoma tissue and normal tissue(P<0.05),and was significantly associated with lymph node metastasis(P<0.05),but not associated with age, gender, histological differentiation, clinical stages and primary lesion(P>0.05).The expression of PTTG and bFGF was correlated with MVD in laryngeal carcinoma(P<0.05).Conclusion:Increased PTTG may play an important role in the carcinogenesis and development in laryngeal cancers by promoting the expression of bFGF protein and angiogenesis.
