Since the Buddhism from India into China, there have been some critics of Buddhism constantly, especially the Confucian scholars often mentioned that Buddhists lack filial piety .Qi song(1O07—1072) was one of monk who spoke in defense of Buddhism .Great changes have taken place in china in the 1980s. Along with the revival of Buddhism in China, the study of Qi Song gradually increased. Qi Song was the representative figure in Song Dynasty who reconciled Confucian and Buddhism.Qi Song was the Zen monk of the Song Dynasty, his Buddhist Thought more and more attention by scholars, so that writings of Qi Song' Buddhist thought increased year by year. During his lifetime, the main contribution is a comparative analysis of Confucianism and Buddhism thought in which Confucianism and Buddhism advocate the same. Because Qi Song contradicted the Confucian refusal speech of the Buddhism, he has played a positive role in the development of the ethics of Chinese Buddhism, especially in the ethics of Zen.This paper is divided into three chapters, the first to the second chapter separately illustrates the cognitive concept and practice of filial piety of Qi Song, the third chapter is an evaluation of the concept of filial piety of Qi Song. Qi Song filial piety concept arises from the Southern Song Dynasty, and his biggest contribution is to reconcile the Buddhist concept of filial piety with Confucian concept of filial piety. Until today, it still has the indelible value.Historical analysis and text interpretation of the methods have been used in the study of the concept of filial piety of Qi Song. This paper concluded that Filial piety is not only the core of Confucian ethics, but also the basis of Buddhist ethics. Today, research filial piety of Qi Song has a positive significance of ethical in building a harmonious society.Besides, this paper also explains the meaning and practices of filial piety in modern Buddhism.
