The senior high school students are at a critical stage of physical and psychological development , facing the high pressure of college entrance examination or employment.The artistic high school students are a category of special students, who bear much more pressure, and challenge more cruel competition. To make sure can enter the college, they must not only pass the professional course test,but also common high school uniform examination. We must learn their mental health status and then get them improved.Base on the survey of mental health status and coping style of the artistic high school students, we analyzed the correlation between mental health and coping style, induced the reason of the psychological health problems, and present some solutions.A total of 520 Artistic Students of No.6 Middle School in SuZhou have been chosen as the subjects of this study to undergo a questionnaire survey on SCL-90 and Coping Style Scale of Middle School Students. We come out below result after analyzing mental health, coping style, and their correlation of artistic high school students:1. Mental health status of Artistic Students of No.6 Middle School in SuZhou was found worse than domestic population. Artistic Students are worse than normal students. Schoolboy are worse than schoolgirl. Grade One is better than Grade Two. Poor family is a little worse than Rich family, but no significant difference on each factors. Special families are worse than normal ones. Boarders are worse than externs. Class committees are better than normal students, but no significant difference on each factors. Students in village are worse than those in city.2. Artistic Students of No.6 Middle School in SuZhou most using Problem Solving as coping style, then Fantasy, Help-seeking, Self-abuse, and seldom using Avoiding Strategies. Normal students look more for social support than Artistic students. The coping style has no significant Gender differences and family style differences. Grade Two using more Problem Solving, Avoiding Strategies and Fantasy than Grade One. Poor use more Avoiding Strategies than rich. Boarders use more Self-abuse than externs. Class committees use more Problem solving. Students in village use more Self-abuse.3. Mental health factors as a whole has a strongly inversely associated with Problem Solving and Looking for Social Support. It shows an apparent positive correlation to Avoiding Strategies, Self-abuse, Fantasy. Which means the more Problem Solving and Looking for Social Support are using, the more health of students'mental status will be. The more Avoiding Strategies, Self-abuse, Fantasy are using, the less health will be.We deeply understand the mental health, coping style, and their correlation of artistic high school students from this research. It can promote the development of mental health education more effectively, and guide them response more properly.
