With the rise of the positive psychology, humor began to be the study of psychology and more and more attention was paid to it. As an important psychology trait, humor plays an important role in body health maintaining, stress and tension relieving and the interpersonal relationships improving. High school students are the future of one country and the reserve force of high quality talent. Due to the particularity of the age of high school student which were in the adolescence, however, their mood easily fluctuate as well as the heavy burden in schoolwork and great stress of entering a higher school, they are prone to have and more have mental trouble. Therefore, it is very important for perfect personality of them, enhancing overall development and obtaining the real effects of quality-oriented education to investigate humor styles of high school students as well as the relationships between them and mental health.In present study, the humor style were measured by Chinese Humor Style Questionnaire compiled by Guohai Chen, the individual coping strategies of stress events measures by Coping Style Questionnaire compiled by Jihua Xiao and General Health Questionnaire compiled by Hong Li. In the statistical method, first the applicability of Chinese Humor Style Questionnaire in high school students was analyzed using factor analysis; then humor styles were analyzed in demographic variables using t-test and analysis of variance; finally, the relationships among humor styles, coping styles and mental health of high school students were analyzed using correlation analysis and regression analysis.The results showed that:(1) the humor style of high school students include four dimensionalities: self-improvement type, affinity type, taunt type and self-disparagement type;(2) the humor style of high school students showed significant difference in demographic variables:taunt-type humor was significant under gender and family source, which was more used by boy relative to girls and rural students; the self-disparagement-type humor was significant under gender, which was more used by boy than girls; self-improvement type was significantly different in major and student cadre, which was more used by student of science relative to student of liberal arts and student cadre relative to general students.(3) taunt-type humor and self-disparagement-type humor showed significantly positive correlation to fantasy, self-accusation, withdrawal and rationalization, but self-disparagement-type humor showed significantly negative correlation to problem-solving coping style; the positive correlation between self-improvement type and affinity type and problem-solving and help-seeking were significant, however, affinity-type humor showed significantly negative correlation with self-accusation coping style.(4) According to our results, we think that coping style and mental health might be predicted by humor styles. In mental health, self denial, melancholy and anxiety might be predicted positively by taunt-type humor style, while predicted negatively by self-improvement-type and affinity-type humor styles. Taunt-type and self-disparagement-type humor styles had positive prediction to problem-solving and help-seeking maturely coping styles and negative prediction to fantasy, self-accusation, withdrawal and rationalization immaturely coping styles; self-improvement types and affinity type showed negative prediction to withdrawal coping style and positive prediction to problem solving, help seeking, fantasy, self-accusation and rationalization.
