The book, you yang za zu, is written in the end of Tang Dynasty, which is about 130 thousand words, covering all aspects of social life such as economic, politics, and social customs. Therefore, the book is of great corpus value. At present, the studies of the book from the angle of linguistics focus on words investigation as well as explanations, and the vocabulary system of ancient Chinese. However, the synonyms were neglected. In this situation, resting on the language materials in the book, this paper researched synonyms, especially monosyllabic notional synonyms. Besides that, using the results and methods of previous researchers, this paper systematically arranged and analyzed the relationship of monosyllabic notional synonyms in you yang za zu, based on related exegetical materials. This paper is consisted by five chapters:Chapter one, introduction, summarized the relevant researches, introduced the survey of you yang za zu, and then cleared the theory as well as methods of this paper.Chapter two, the survey of monosyllabic notional synonyms in the book, introduced the distribution of synonyms in the book.Chapter three, investigation and explanations of monosyllabic notional synonyms, detailed researched some synonyms.Chapter four, discrimination of monosyllabic notional synonyms, detailed discriminated some synonyms.Chapter five, focused on the form and the order of synonyms.
