Since the beginning of the 1990s, with the development of information technology at full speed, human society has entered the information age. Every field of human life now invariably bears features of this new era, and translation teaching can be no exception. The advance of information technologies, especially in the fields of multi-media and network communication has provided educational reform with favorable material conditions and means of support. However, the information age has not only brought about opportunities and inspiring prospects, but also challenges. Translation teachers should consider how to apply information science and technologies, advanced equipment and new scientific research findings to teaching contents and methods in order to facilitate the development of modern translation teaching. This thesis is an attempt to describe the features of translation teaching in this new age, and suggest some contents and methods to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by information technology.Chapter One is to explain the theoretical bases and basic concepts of translation teaching in the information age; Chapter Two elaborates on several changes of translation teaching contents called for by this new age; Chapter Three suggests some new teaching methods to utilize information technology. Chapter Four deals with the new teaching environment and the new roles and requirements for translation teachers in the information age.In the course of elaboration of the whole thesis, the author combines theories with actual teaching process, and portrays an outline of translation teaching in the information age.
