By the end of 2000, the installed capacity of China hydropower is 79,350,000kW and accounts for 24.8 percent in total power sources structure. Its development rate is just about 11 percent in term of power capacity, which is below the world average level (22 percent) and far below the figures of developed countries (50-100 percent). With relevant policies coming forth one after the other in West Development, industrial restructuring of power sector and strong implementation of hydropower development policies, China hydropower construction is facing a favorable opportunity for historical progress. Although China enjoys rich hydropower resources and great development potential, it is confronted with certain difficulties due to problems in its developments, such as relevant national policies of hydropower development, hydropower construction mechanisms and unified dispatching after national interconnection. In this thesis the author puts forwards careful analysis on problems and difficulties in hydropower development, study the successful experience and solutions of some foreign countries and probes into relevant solutions based upon many practical surveys and reference consultations.
