| Population migration activities has been an important subject in demographic field. The methods , patterns, reasons, consequence, and prediction of migration have been focal points in the studies.Xinjiang has been a traditional immigration area historically, the inter-provincial migration activities has not only influenced on the growth rate, distribution and structure of Xinjiang population, but also played a important role in the economic development, resources and environment condition of Xinjiang, so, it is essential and significant to study the inter-provincial migration in xinjiangoPresently , the related study refer to the characteristics and causes of inter-provincial migration before the 1990 's, while that after the 1990 's remains rare, this thesis analyzes the characteristics of inter-provincial migration in Xinjiang , especially the characteristics since the 1990's by using the data of the 5th census, statistically data, etc. and then, on the basis of the review of western migration theory, I produce the inter-provincial population migration model in Xiinjiang, and explain the mechanic of migration in Xinjiang. As to the consequences of inter-provincial migration in Xinjiang, I set lots of historical materials for example to account. lastly, I analyze the trend of inter-provincial migration, along with the sound pattern of inter-provincial migration in Xinjiango the aim is to provide the theoretical and decision-making references for the central and local government as well as the academia.The thesis is divided into four parts, they are as follows:The first part: it's a literature review on inter-provincial migration.in Xinjiango The content includes study field, methods, and focal points.. what's more, I introduce the aim and significant of this study .The second part: after explaining the related definition, a review on the history of inter-provincial migration in Xinjiang is made, which includes the ancient time and modern times. After this, by using the detailed migration data of the 5th census of Xinjiang,, I analyze and compare the historical change of migration, and the new characteristics of recent immigration,. The results indicate that the scale of recent inter-provincial immigrant in Xinjiang become increasing, the ratio of male to female near to balance, more and more immigrant are tending to countryside, theeducational level of immigrant show a decreasing trend.The third part: this is the key part. Based on the above analysis, and review the western demographic theory, I produce population migration pattern theoretically, and make a qualitative study of the population migration mechanism in Xinjiang, which is suitable for Xinjiang reality.I consider that inter-provincial migration in Xinjiang are affected by many factors, such as natural resources, transport condition, migration policy, etc, but the basic factor is the employment difference between Xinjiang and the other provinces, the other factors, such as population carrying capacity, income comparitive conditions, cultural differences between Xinjiang and the provinces, as well as migration policy, as secondary factors. .About consequences of inter-provincial migration in Xinjiang, as a whole, the migration of inter-provincial in Xinjiang has a great influence on society, economy, culture in Xinjiang, they are mainly:1, influence on economy: inter-provincial migrant contribute a lot to the development of economy in Xinjiang, for examples, they had laid a solid foundation for modern industry and agriculture, facilitate the development of market economy o2, influence on ecology: it has two sides, on one hand, inter-provincial migrant enhanced the population carrying capacity in Xinjiang, built many "migrant cities", on the other hand, inter-provincial migration speed the growth rate of population in Xinjiang, which resulted in a serious ecological problems.3, influence on society: it is a mainly negative, with the increasing of "floating people", the socie...
