In fierce competition of global market more and more companies realize that only with supply chain management they can fully use different resource and improve the competence of themselves and whole group' s. In 21 century, the competition is not among the enterprises, but among the difficult supply chains.The concept of supply chain management is a derivative of logistic management, but now supply chain management is treated as a strategic management system from the strategic angle. Supply chain management emphasizes the efficiency and effectiveness of total supply chain and focuses on cooperation of companies. It makes the companies of a supply chain can gain and keep persistent competitive advantage. And competency of the supply chain can be raised.The theory of supply chain management was introduced into our country only in several years. After joining WTO, with the more and more fierce competition in global market, it' s important to enforce the research of SCM theory and induct companies establish strategic alliance with supply chain.In my thesis, I firstly introduce the background and development of SCM, summarize the concept of SCM and discuss the correlative fundamental theory.Secondly, I discuss the relation of SCM and enterprises competition from three different levels: operation, business and strategy. There will be more and more companies joining supply chain, improving their competence with SCM to adapt themselves to the fierce global competition. In addition, with several examples of successful companies, I explain how the enterprises in a supply chain improve their competence together.Lastly, I analyses the status and problems of SCM in our country and put forward some advices and future expectation.
