With the development of global economy, enterprises are facing more and more fierce competition and challenges. In the key elements that reflecting competition advantages of the enterprise, it is no doubt that knowledge workers in the enterprise play a decisive role, for they occupy the leading position that allocate, management and apply other resources in the enterprise. Although many enterprises have realized the importance of knowledge workers, there are still some questions in the motivation of them, which influenced knowledge workers giving play to their enthusiasm, even hindered the sustained operation and further development of the enterprise. So how to motivate knowledge workers effectively have become one of the important problems that the enterprise must settle.The group of knowledge workers is important and special to an enterprise; they have unique psychological needs and occupational features. To motivate them, we should design systematic and scientific motivation mechanism, resort to rational and valid motivation tactics according to their motivation factors.In this thesis, the author firstly synthesizes relevant theories as the theoretical basis of the research of knowledge workers motivation, such as motivation theory, humanism theory, psychological contract theory, human resource management theory, human capital theory and knowledge management theory. Then, presents and analyses the concept and characteristics of knowledge workers, points out that the management of knowledge workers should follow certain principles, and found enterprise mechanism of motivation. Then, the thesis analyses the development process, present condition and main motivation means of the motivation of knowledge workers, searches after the major problems existing in the motivation of knowledge workers and the reasons that caused them. On the basis of all above, the thesis analyses and conformities the motivation factors of knowledge workers, designs the model of knowledge workers' motivation mechanism starting with institution and management motivation, puts forward some principles and patterns. In the end, the author summarizes the basic motivation tactics in accordance with different types and occupation career of knowledge workers, and puts forward specific countermeasures to motivate knowledge workers.
