Urban morphology is sometimes called Urban space construction.lt is the space reflect of city development degree, stage reflects with process.Urban morphology is changing with the city develops, and bring some kind of problem. For this reason ,it is attached importance to scholars as study urban space characteristic and evolvement orderliness of basic theories of urban science . Take Wuhan city for example, this paper discusses the correlative theories and practical applications of unbern morphology. The paper is divided into two parts , the first is the basic theorieses , the second is the cases and analysis.lt analysis and explain the form of population, land use of urban etc.lt describes the especial rules of urban morphology in Wuhan .The chapter one is the basic theorieses. It based on the introduction of basic concept of urban morphology, reviewed the latest evelopment and existing problem in the urban morphology studies, and presented some possible orientations in the future. The chapter two is about the variance of urban land ure and the research of population's distributing in Wuhan.lt gives amensural research to the process about evolvement of urban morphology , the variance of land use in Wuhan and analyse the disciplinarian of block's population increasing and the variance of space distributing. The chapter three is about the fractal theorieses. The author finds that the character of self-similarity is very clear in Wuhan when he studies the evolution of urban morphology and structure of urban land use using the theory of fractals. By dint of the box counting method, several maps of urban land use of different years are utilized to extract the basic data, and then the fractal dimensions of urban morphology and seven kinds of land are calculated. It is not difficult to find thatmost of the standard are less than the criterion 8c = 0.04, which was put forward by Benguigui etal. The author finds that the status of fractals of urban morphology and land use structure tend to be better with the elapse of time, which testify the viewpoint of foreign scholars about the evolving city fractals. Another important findings of the paper is that the fractal dimension of every land use is less than that of the total urban morphology, which is only a theoretical deduction before. From the viewpoint of spatial-temporal change, the fractal dimension of Wuhan's urban morphology tends to be increasing, and in 1996 it is near D = 1.71, a mean value of fractal dimension summarized by Batty et al. As far as different urban land use of Wuhan is concerned, the fractal dimensions of residential, industrial and external traffic land tended to be increasing from 1980 to 1996, while the fractal dimensions of education and virescence land tended to be decreasing during the same period. The last chapter is conclusions and prospects. We summarize the whole thesis and represent the issues to be studied in the future.
